I gave Vista another try on both my laptop an dekstop just before SP1 came out, but installed it on both, there's no difference, at all! So back to XP for me.

I don`t think so I have Vista but before I had XP and my computer was all laggy but with vista it is lightning fast, and I like the look of vista. :P

I hate it, mainly because it's so damn slow, and so stupidly difficult to do any sort of task that microsoft think is beyond the knowlegde of an idiot. So it's not practical, uses shit-loads of ram (1gb idle, XP using 240mb, installing SP2).

Well it does use a lot of ram, but I just bought some more, and I upgraded my memory to before I installed it.

I have 2gb RAM, bloody expensive stuff at that. I don't need any more than 2gb to run the apps I use so I'm not going to buy more just to keep Vista happy. I found that programs froze regularly and that applications take a while to load with Vista.

And Vista SP1 install time: About 2 hours.
And XP SP2 install time: About 15 minutes.

XP isn't trash probably your mums computer is slowing down and not got enough memory anymore....you need to clean ur computer regularly, if you don't do that vista will slow up as well.

yeah but u know vista was designed to be a upgrade I really hate it....it looks good maybe on a 21 inch monitor but no way does it look or react good on mine

I've run with XP for about 8 years now. I had an old computer for Christmas in 2002 but then in 2004 it gave out. I got a new one in 2005 and have had XP with both of them and I'm staying with it

Yeh that then....I went from 95 to 98 to xp...I've got 3 op systems on this comp I only use xp on it (the other 2 are Vista and Linux)

Vista just made my computer stupidly slow, XP seems so much quicker and easier to use. My computer is pretty powerful, yet on Vista it was not that quicker than my old computer was most of the time.

We got a computer last year with vista pre-installed, and it's just slow as hell usually.

yea vista is just a resource blood sucker. with 1 GB ram, XP can run with lots to spare. with vista, you're left with very little to work with.
