View Full Version : Irritating Things You Have to Face When Gaming

Karkat

What little things that happen during gaming irritate you the most? Is it when a disc you *know* works can't be read? How about when a game controller dies? Maybe it's when a game has to update- especially when it takes a FREAKISHLY long time. (I'm looking at you, LittleBigPlanet2 update of late 2012/early 2013)

Post your gaming gripes here. Mostly geared towards technical difficulties, but by all means, player gripes, game gripes, and whatever else relevant you can think of totally applies as well.

My current gripe is that my Tak disc can't be read even though it worked the other day... After fiddling with it for half an hour. WHY CAN'T YOU READ IT, DAMN YOU

Black Ops 2 disc is inconsistent with reading
Controllers frequently decide to stop working
Controllers die...
Headset falls off
Console/PC freezes
Life getting in the way of gaming
but the biggest annoyance. SQUEAKERS.

People standing in front of the TV,
Douchebag gamers,
Controller dying,
Connection issues,
and 12 year olds chanting "stupid mothersuckers". ._.

Lag. We have such shitty internet where I am, I genuinely just don't play online simply because the lag is too consistent and ruins it

Other than that, probably people that manipulate quirks and glitches in the game and make it not fun for everyone else just to get a higher score (most clans)

When you're playing multiplayer with someone and you pause to leave for 2 seconds but they unpause and kill you while you're gone.

-Can't pause Multiplayer....fucking annoying burn impossible n to fix

-My character is unable to do so many things, untill virtual reality like the HoloDeck is here, gaming will frustrate me simply because of the limited options ans controls.

-I can't eat and game

-My PC can't play EVERY game on Max settings anymore. SOmETIMES I have to play on only high. (Sounds tiny, to a hardcore PC gamer this problem is huge)

-I sometimes get 59fps (believe it or not, I can tell the different between 60 and 59)

This is the babe of my existence. So many times do I have tasty food, but am in the middle of the game and I DON'T WANT TO CHOOSE

WHY WOULD YOU MAKE ME CHOOSE BETWEEN TWO THINGS SO DEAR TO MY HEART NO

Those asses on online games that back-stab you/let you die and get amused by it.
When you keep dying or are stuck on a freakishly annoying puzzle. Oh gamer rage.
When your game crashes right when you've really been progressing, but didn't manage to save

About the second one, no you can't actually. Our eyes can't tell the difference when we see higher than 30FPS.

About the first one, that's a little pro of using a flight Simulator. You can do whatever while cruising, eating included :P

Mines:
Having to set up controllers, papers, etc for a short time of gaming. Just lazyness

Nope, wrong. The highest we can see is actually closer to somewhere around 65 or 70 fps. If the highest we could see was 30, why would everyone be raging about 60 and 30 FPS on on 8th gen consoles

They rage because they want slow motion video for later processing. PM Me if you want to keep talking, back on topic.

I think that's what happened to my old laptop, but I REALLY don't want to remove the keyboard to find out...

Someday I will, I guess. It's not a bad computer by any means.

I hate when my brother plays with me and I win most of the time and when he wins a game he says he's the best and rubs it in which pisses me off. I hate prepubescent kids saying "I fucked your mom last night" it's funny but annoying. I hate laggy connections which make me lose!

Worst is when your controller freaks out and starts randomly pressing buttons for you, so you can't turn it off and you have to force down your system.

For me, the biggest irritation is lag (my internet runs at about 1-2 Mbps) and the 8 year olds that you hear squealing over teamspeak or the ingame VoIP. Especially when they say they are amazing at the game and then you beat them, and thus get banned because their daddy runs the server for them.

Another thing that really irks me is the sexist that still exists in a lot of gaming. I have seen the trouble that a girl/woman gets when she joins an online game and reveals that she is in fact female. I think this kind of attitude towards women, tends to be exhibited most in more casual console games such as Call of Duty and Battlefield, since the average player is more of a casual gamer and therefore is less passionate about the game and more focussed on being unpleasant towards the minorities on their team.

Homophobia is also a big problem, whether explicit or implicit. The number of times I have heard someone say that something is "gayyy" on games (again especially console games) is astounding and frankly offensive, even though I am not of that orientation myself.

my specs are fairly high-end and well above the minimum requirements of every game ever.

so there's nothing more irritating when I fire up a game I paid 60 dollars for, and then see nothing but framerate dips, lag spikes and my second video card not being recognized despite the game supporting CrossFire. not sure if it's the fault of the game devs or the Bangladeshi programmers that write AMD's drivers for 2 bucks an hour or both.

When my computer isn't specced properly and the fact I have to build a new one.

When my Xbox controller dies in the middle of Destiny strikes.

When people insist on playing online with me but their internet won't stop dropping their connection.

Anyone under the age of... maybe 16.

Basically I only play games with like one friend and play the rest by myself.

Also, my mother's inability to understand how some games cannot be paused and I can't just suddenly drop everything right at the very moment she wants my attention.

Others screaming on their mics

There's a reason I have a headset with feedback so I can hear how loud my own voice is. Also with the option for chat-only volume control where I can either turn people down or mute morons.

It saves a lot of people's ears from misery too when I'm streaming and I at least have feedback of my own voice to tell me how loud my mic audio is going to be and I can adjust settings as needed.

Oh boy, do I have a list..

1) When people play freaking music on the mic while you play with them. I like music, but it's a distracting because a majority of the time it sounds horrible through the mic.

2) When people rage quit a game because they did something wrong.

3) Lag.

4) Majority of the kids that play.

5) When your controller dies in a middle of an intense game.

6) When people take all of your kills. Like dude, stop. (Zombies)

7) When somebody leaves the game. (Zombies)

8) When your Sim decides to go againist your orders and you have to violently click the button to ex out of their actions.

9) When people start asking you out because you're a chic, usually lonely 30 year old men. (Like literally, a guy sent me a picture of his eye before in attempt to hit on me)

Lag, squeakers(with microphones, if they don't have them, they're fine), immature people that kill you if you accidentally teamkilled someone and didn't apologize because I was owning the other team, when someone does something against the rules on a ranked server, but you can't complain to the admins/the one that did it because the PS3 won't show their names on the list that shows the players you've played with. These apply for Battlefield 4 on Hardcore

You just bought a new PS3 game, maybe even pre-ordered and got it the day it was released, only to find you need to install a 2 GB update first. How can there be such big problems already?
Also, when you bring a game to a friend's house, and it makes you install a dozen large updates first. That's why I like the PS2 better: you just put the disc in and play (although I guess you can pull out the network cable too)
When the DOS emulator doesn't work. (looking at you, GOG)
When my digital audio decoder craps out, and you need to restart it (I should have known better than to trust Chinese knock-offs)
That nobody is ever online
