View Full Version : 8th gen console rant...

So I have been looking at it, and the newest console generation is the strangest yet.
Xbox One - Only true 8th gen console released.
Now this is simply because the PS4 is basically a 9th gen console released a generation early, and the WiiU is a gen behind. However, the WiiU is fine, being as Nintendo Games are only playable on Nintendo consoles. Xbone VS PS4 is my biggest rant right now...
The 360 and PS3 were basically the same console, after the 360 slim was released. Granted, the PS3 was ahead of the 360 by a small margin. (Let's keep in mind that the original 360 came out to compete against PS2, not 3...) But now, Sony has decided to SKIP A GENERATION because people couldn't figure out that the 360 wasn't meant to compete with the PS3... The PS4 is WAY overpowered, and still cheaper. But I still refuse to buy it. Microsoft is at least ABLE to stop themselves from trying to kill Sony, but the opposite is not true.
Apparently, I'm not the only one who thinks this way. I saw somewhere online that basically said, "We refuse to buy anything to do with Sony until Sony admits their mistake."
Now, don't get me wrong, I did like Sony there for a while, but this. This has ended it for me.
(At least I have the complete Xbox family now ^.^)
(The only reason I play 360 is because we happened to buy a 360... If we had bought a PS3, I would be playing PS3. I would probably complain still, though.)

They're all fun but I'm not sure why you wouldn't pick ps4 simply because it's very powerful in an industry where all consoles are simply going for most powerful and fun

Microsoft for life.
Been playing Xbox ever since it came out. It's always been more fun and more user friendly in my opinion. Although the newer iterations of Playstation may have an (unnoticeable) advantage in power, I still bought an Xbox One.
Just my 2 cents.

So basically, your bitching about a console, and fan boying over Microsoft, and bad mourning Sony simply because they created a seemingly superior console.
You can't blame Sony for creating a powerful console, its not as if they knew what they where up against, they didn't know the specs of the Xbone, they didn't see it and go "...yeee...let's make it more powerful", they took a shot in the dark and it happened to be more powerful. Same with Xbone, they didn't see the specs of the PS4 and decide to be less powerful.
Both co pants took shots in the dark when it came to specs, hoping to get it right, and your bitching that one happened to be more powerful? You confuce me, you come across as a pissed off fan boy. But that's just what I got out of this.

As the wise people of the internet say
"The PS4 is a game console that supports other entertainment; the Xbox One is an entertainment system that supports games"

console wars are the gayest rivalry there is. you're literally arguing over which megacorporation should have the honor of taking your money (repeatedly).
go outside sometime, real life has the best graphics and endless replay value (especially if you're a Nord) :D

Agree, sans the last paragraph. Graphics may be good, but the plot is confusing and shitty, the NPCs are annoying, and the gameplay kinda sucks most of the time. At least, imo.
But yeah anyways, like I give a flying fuck about corporations and shit. I like Sony's consoles. I haven't been given a chance to like or dislike Xbox, but the rabid fanbois sure don't make me jump at every chance I get
But yeah. When you're in the lower class, someone else's money... Especially the money of corporations... Not gonna be a huge automatic concern. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I just want to remember the good old 5th and 6th gens.
Great games. Great times. You don't have that now.

But especially if you are a breton named Graham Wellington III. :P

My rant with consoles is an overall one. Sony, Microsoft, and (I guess also) Nintendo have made new consoles the last few years that have priced people like me right out of the market. I can't afford the hundreds of dollars these newest systems cost. Sure, I spend some money occasionally on games when I have it - but dropping $400-$600 at one time is a bit much. By the time these systems come down enough for me to afford them - I either don't want them or they are obsolete (or close to it).
For now...I am sticking to playing a few games on PC, my 3DS, and on my phone.

Comeone. These consoles are much cheaper than the ones that came before it, considering the inflation.
But yeah, I prefer the PC right now. I have a suitable pc that plays the game the way they are meant to be played.

Your statement is well....wrong to a high degree (some areas are correct)
The PS4 and Xbox One is the same console in terms of specs, they're capable of doing the same thing but are built differently and operate differently and due to this the PS4 is at a slight advantage and I say slight because many games still come out with the PS4 and XB1 at the same level e.g. AC Unity - 30FPS and 900p on both consoles. Some games have been at 1080p while the Xbox 1 has been stuck at say 792p or 990p or its had to be upscale to 1080p and not native, a few titles remind of me of this. But all in all the consoles are more or less the same in gaming.
Xbox One wasn't made with pure gaming in mind, its an all in "one" entertainment system e.g. watching telly, switching between multiple apps and doing a border spectrum of stuff.
The PS4 is mainly centered around gaming and is....as the advert says "for the players" its built with gaming in mind and is not aimed to be an "all in one" entertainment system. Look back the announcement events for the Xbox, its all designed with being an all in one entertainment system.
So what's this rant all about? How Sony have made a more powerful console? well the specs are mostly the same with sony coming out on top slightly due to how the systems operate but Sony has went with a gaming machine whereas Xbox has went with a all in one entertainment system.
Its how things go. If Xbox hadn't made a Windows 8 UI and skipped some of the UI features and then focused more on the gaming side as oppose to the UI side then it would have been identical like the 360 was to the PS3.
I honestly don't know what else to say but what you've said is pretty much BS.

I definitely got the impression of a pissed off fan boy.
