I've been noticing a few things in my life about my friends.
I have no friends. (This is where you say, "Dafuq?!") :P
Well, haha I guess I do but I don't really consider them as friends.
When I lived up in Indiana, I lived there 8 years, and everyone I knew, I considered family. Male friends were basically brothers to me, and girls were like sisters. Some adults like uncles, some as a father/mother figure.
Is that weird? What about you?
I'm not sure where I'm going with this but I thought I would share it with you guys.

I'm pretty much in the same place with you. I have a bunch of people I know. Loads of people I could have a long conversation at the supermarket if I saw them. But I don't really have any close friends.

I have a group of about four really close friends that I just love to death. We're always together having fun. I also have a handful of friends that I'll talk to and occasionally hang out with, but I'm not even comparably close to them as my best friends. Then, there are my acquaintances that I'll sometimes talk, mostly when they want to copy my school work :P, or they'll invite me to parties and we'll chill together there.

To me it's not being able to hang out with mixed gender friends. I spend time with my girl friends, and spend time with my guy friends and my closest friends are female so I'm weird about it that way. It sucks because we all kinda know each other in some shape or form. It might have to do with my sexuality being unique as it is, I don't know, have no idea.

There are no friends or family, simply people I have no reason to dislike, yet.

Not weird at all, you just like really close friendships I guess and value them, but now that you've lost what you used to have, maybe your expectations for friends are kind of high, hence you don't think you have any friends because you've always considered your friends as family like in Indiana.

Friends and family are pretty closely correlated for that reason

I have some people to hang out with , but I don't call all of them friends. You see ; friends are diffrent. They're special and always there for you. A family could be really great friends.

I'm an island.
There are others out there, and I can probably see them, but they're oh so far away.
Take of that what you will.
