What are your thoughts on YouTube LPs? Do you love em? Hate em? Have you ever made any? What ones are you watching? (If applicable)

I personally love well done LPs. I like Pyrodragonxii, Slimkirby, Batman9502, and TrueHitoare. Those are mostly my go-tos. (Esp Slimkirby and Batman9502- the other two are amazing, but don't have as much content...)

I also REALLY enjoyed Markiplier's LP of Five Nights At Freddy's. Oh lawd.

I haven't really watched him much, but I enjoyed his commentary, and he seems pretty cool, so I'll prolly check out more ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I also like Pewds, believe it or not. He's not the greatest, no, but he can be pretty damn hilarious. Especially in his playthrough of The Sims 3. Plus, I have a high tolerance for things most people find annoying to BEGIN with, so that probably helps.

Anyways, I personally haven't made any, but I plan to. Videogames=life

I'm currently watching:

Super Mario 64 (Slimkirby)
LoZ: Majora's Mask (Pyrodragonxii)
Hamtaro: Ham-Ham Heartbreak (??? I'll edit his name in. [KuuImpact. That's such an easy name wtf Ren])

The ones without any commentary are best. I just mostly use them as walkthrough guides on older games. When I come across one that's edited by a youtube blogger and he ads stupid side sketches to them it becomes annoying.

I used to really like watching that kind of stuff.

But now I hardly have time to just sit and watch a 30 minute youtube video.

I use to watch SSoHpkc when i had time but these days its either me working on my own content or working so no watching youtube LP's for me.Another reason i don't anymore is most are annoying douchebags 90% of the time youtube in general is toxic.

Yeah, that's the one problem. But it's not so much of an issue for me right now... In fact, I usually spend my days watching countless videos.

I have a horrible attention span when it comes to watching things, it's hard to watch them a ton. However I do enjoy them occasionally.

I love YouTube LP's. I really appreciate well made LP's. I am planning on doing my own, when I have more free time and the equipment.

I have a short attention span, so the group of LPers I watch is an exclusive club. First and foremost, it isn't the gaming but the humor and personality. I need to like the person, and I need to find them funny. This is a harder criterion to meet than you'd imagine. The second is skill, or rather lack of skill. The last thing in consideration is the type of games, though still there are some that are deal-breakers. If you pass the first two criteria with flying colors, I could watch you play QWOP for all I care.

I've watched a lot of people, but few people get a subscription out of me. It's really just Markiplier and Sips right now.

Gamegrumps?
Gamegrumps.

To be honest, while I really like to watch nicely commented LPs (half because I'd never play the game anyways :P) they're so... time consuming, and I'm usually not the one to watch shows. I'd rather watch video game reviews (and I do. A lot.) than watch LPs.

Now see, I'm exactly the opposite. I don't trust reviews because I don't trust other people's tastes much. :P I'd rather see for myself.

My general opinion on them is a good one.
The personality of a LPer matters a lot to me. They've gotta be funny and keep my attention (especially if episodes are 20 minutes or longer) and not be too offensive. If I haven't heard good things about them and/or seen bits and pieces of their videos, I probably won't watch their stuff. I also can't stand horror games, so that eliminates a good chunk of Let's Plays...

I found Achievement Hunter's Let's Play Minecraft fucking hilarious, even though I only watched around 80 episodes of it. I should really continue watching.
I also thoroughly enjoyed Markiplier's LP's of To The Moon and Octodad, and danisnotonfire & AmazingPhil's LP of the Sims 4. That's pretty much it.

YOGSCAST!!! those guys (and girls) are the best!
(I'm totally not biased here)
They have the ability to make the most unproductive episode absolutely hilarious, plus they do some really cool songs! haha

I just adore them. Hilarious ones, serious ones, interesting ones, as long as the lp'er has fun I usually have fun watching too.

I especially love Many A True Nerd's stuff, he does interesting let's plays like fallout new Vegas no healing, hitman all accident, Mass effect no guns, etc.

He once had a new Vegas kill everything and a no kill run running simultaneously. The contrast was hilarious.

I just can't stand most of them so I can't say I like the Yogscast as a whole, but Simon and Lewis' old content and Yogpod were amazing. I also loved both Yogquest series, but Sips was in them soooo...

Side-note, Sips read out my shout-out with Simon and Turps on Tuesday. Sips said some really sweet things to me, that magnificent bastard.

Let's play are really stupid. I mean, what's the point?

If you want to play a game and not sure if you want to buy it? I watch a review of it. If I want the in-game content, I buy the game and then form my own comments on through the way.

They're entertainers and comedians, they just use a different medium than others. I don't even give a shit about the games. Like I said, they could play QWOP for all I care; I watch it for the person. Those scenarios aren't the point of Let's Plays.

Finished Majora's Mask

You think, but they are not. They are useful. Reviews at least show cons and pros of a game and the reviewer send out an opinion based on their actual experience of the game. Reviews aren't fun, but they are not stupid, they are useful and informative, much more than a let's plays cracking fart jokes and penis puns.

If I find the game footage pleasant and the person reviewing also finds the game pleasant, then hell sure I am buying it.

I still haven't gotten any video proving your guy's point that these Let's Play are "Fun". Because I am generous and open minded and willing to see the "fun and "entertainment" in those let's plays.

Also, I don't just watch Reviews. I watch channels like Extra Credit, where they talk about game designs and tell us what ticks and what doesn't.

I don't have to make you like let's plays. I dislike reviews because they only show the mechanics of the game that ONE person decided to point out. There's plenty of room for things to be left out. In let's plays, you get to see as much of the game as you want for the most part. I only find reviews useful in the event that I've already played the game, because I already know what the game is like. Actually, I feel this way about all reviews for the most part. I ignore them half the time because that's one opinion, and I like to form my own.

I think water is just solid, but that's just my opinion.

I don't have to make you like let's plays.

Good, because they are pure avian uric acid, unworthy of people's time. Gawd, the fanbase of let's players streamers/vloggers just makes me want to tear my arms hair off, but at least they are not a preachy bunch.

I dislike reviews because they only show the mechanics of the game that ONE person decided to point out.

So there is one person who do reviews who points out a mechanic of a game? Is that really what you think reviews are? There are dozen of reviewers who reviews games. And they(vlogging reviewers) practically are doing let's plays minus the spoilers and preteen jokes.

And there are who does videos, with game footages, not reviewing the game, just playing the game and talks about something else happening in the gaming world and gaming news.

I only find reviews useful in the event that I've already played the game, because I already know what the game is like. Actually, I feel this way about all reviews for the most part. I ignore them half the time because that's one opinion, and I like to form my own.

I watch anime reviews after I watched the anime to reaffirm my beliefs or whatever else I wanted from it, and sometime I make my anime watching decisions after I watched a review of it.

Of course, I watch those who make theories out of the game or anime for example, or read more tropes used in a game or creepypasta and whatnot.

BUt why would anyone watch someone watching an anime. That's absurd as a surrealists poetry.

Or, perhaps, I am becoming a grandpa.

If the Let's Play is well done, I tend to enjoy it... But when it becomes the same stuff, I stop enjoying it. Like the Achievement Hunter crew and their GTAV series. Funny at first, then they ran out of ideas. The new-gen release came out, and the videos are good again.

Of course, they are a big company. If the Let's Player is a small Youtuber, I can get around the whole "well done" thing.
BUT CAN WE PLEASE STOP PUTTING 3 MINUTE DUBSTEP INTROS TO A 30 SECOND VIDEO SAYING "LIKE THIS ORI WILL STOP MAKING VIDEOS." PLEASE???

I expected a more competent discussion given your age, but apparently life is full of surprises.

I've been reasonable in my responses, you don't have to get all manic and start insulting me and twisting my words for no reason.

I don't have to fucking like reviews. I think they're shit. If you're so glad that I'm not 'forcing you to like let's plays' or whatever, and say "at least they're not preachy", yet you push your point and continue to insult everything that doesn't agree with you, doesn't that make you a little preachy?

Competent discussion? Why would anyone want to give a competent discussion about guys webcamming themselves playing smash bros and making penis jokes? How much competent should I be to go on about PewDiePie and his 12 year old female fans?

And I expected a more competent discussion given the amount of times you said "maturity". Especially when I requested something that might change my mind, because I am truly open-minded and will make amends wherever necessary.

Oh, yeah. I forget you are still underage and not eligible to watch South Park episodes.

This whole ' I don't like Let's plays' was a node to Kyle's reaction in the latest episodes.

But unfortunately some people are too stuck up, and can't handle criticism, and have to take it way too overboard. Indeed, a land that defies reason and maturity.
