View Full Version : Gynecomastia?

So I've got this lump under my left nipple. It's fairly hard and hurts a little to touch. It makes my nipple really puffy. And it's not the first time I've had it. A year or two ago I had it under both nipples. I've done some research and I believe it's called gynecomastia.
But from the pics I've seen, the term can also be synonymous with man boobs and just enlarged breast tissue in general, not simply a hard lump under the nipple.
I was wondering if my case is normal? Has anybody else had the same thing? And are there any ways to get rid of it?
Thanks

Yeah, it's very normal. When you go through puberty your body also releases estrogen, even though you're a guy. This is what cause it. I had it happen. It will eventually go away by itself when your hormones balance out.

It could also be body fat. There are two types, one is caused by fat and usually by exercising they could go away pretty easily.
The other type unfortunately the only option is for them to be removed. I would probably suggest exercising and keeping yourself in shape and if they don't go away go see a professional to be sure.

You won't need to get anything removed, and it doesn't really have much to do with exercising. You should stay active but exercising may just make it feel more tender if you're moving it around a lot.
It is very normal for boys to get this during puberty. In the earlier ages of puberty both testosterone and estrogen levels rise in both boys and girls, which may start the initial growth of breast tissue, but will subside. It really won't be noticeable and is harmless. If you're worried you should go see a doctor for reassurance, but most people I was friends with when I was around 11-14 went through this too, as did I. It may be a little tender/sore when you touch it, so just don't touch it :P But like I said, if you're worried ask your parents or go see your doctor for reassurance.

Well, I'm hoping his case isnt that severe. As someone who suffers with this and having a young cousin who had a procedure for gynecomastia removal. I was just mentioning there are certain types of gynecomastia that wont go away without medical treatment.

It is normal and as u go through puberty
it will get normal. If u sense that it is not
going away or if it starts to hurt without
touching it I would c a doctor and let him
check it out. Don't worry bout it-tho.
