God put a looooooooooott of nasty things on this planet. Diseases/disasters/problem of evil aside, the same could be said to magic mushrooms, the coca leaf and poppy.
That aside I'm not against legalization.

I don't believe in God, but if he did put marijuana on this earth, he also put ricin here, but shit, I'm not putting THAT in my brownies.
I am completely in favor of the legalization of marijuana, but not under the belief that just because it's a plant or it's created naturally, then it's automatically good.
Marijuana is close to harmless, I'm sure it has some negative side-effects. I've personally never experienced any, but it's no more harmful than cigarettes or alcohol. But don't be fooled into thinking that just because it's a plant, then it's automatically good for you.

I personally detest marijuana, as well as diehard pot-pushers, but I'm more than all for legalization. It just makes sense.
However, there are limits- I don't want people driving high or smoking it in the streets where I can smell it. Do that shit at home, and always drive sober.

Is there a reason why?
I think it should be legalized. It is safer than Alcohol and Cigarettes. Not once recorded death by Cannabis EVER in history where as 120,000 people die from smoking cigarettes each year and 220,000 people die from alcohol each year(UK Alone).
The "facts" the government tells you about Cannabis, are complete BULLSHIT, anyone that smokes it knows this & only people that smoke it will know the facts from smoking it. Moral of the story is, the government lies about near enough everything else and it is recognized by people, by as soon as they say cannabis is bad everyone agrees(BS). If the government were to legalize it, they would make a healthy profit from the weed users, people would be calmer, happier and more content with life(my opinion) & weed dealers would be out of business and would be forced to find jobs. It makes sense and everybody wins.

(Not promoting..just saying)
It's basically harmless. It's not an addictive drug either. It's less harmful than a cigarette/cigar. No matter what the government is going to do, or is doing, marijuana will always be used as an extra curricular activity. And it won't be stopped. I honestly don't see why it is illegal and why the government is trying to stop something, that can't be stopped, and not getting off their lazy ass and actually do something that would be beneficial to the nation. Weed is just fine. It's gonna be sold, its gonna be smoked, it's not going to be stopped... Just like alcohol and cigarettes. I say it should be legal. And have the legal age be set to either 18 or 21. It's a waste of time and money to actually attempt to stop it.

It does have side effects, however. Besides, I already said I'm pro-legalization...
I hate marijuana because I don't like the way it makes me feel. Arguably, alcohol has a worse effect on me, but that's my poison. That's different.
And DXM has never made me go into a fit of rage.
It's no different than me saying I dislike cereal, or beets, or fake pockets on women's jeans. I don't get why people get so hyper over it when someone says they don't like fucking weed holy fuck
Which brings me to my next point: pot-pushers.
It is no different from crazy misandrists and SJW
It is no different from nutso homophobic conservatives
It is no different from hypersensitive jackass liberals
If you are going to be manically defensive about something, I am automatically going to brand you as neurotic and irrational. That's all there is to it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Got to enjoy the irony of an Atheist, hehe and I'm not against it either. Eventually it will become just like cigarettes and alcohol, which used to be prohibited.

I'm and atheist, so I obviously don't agree with your reasoning, but I definitely support legalization. The harm done by prohibition of marijuana far outweighs any benefits.

There aren't any deaths caused directly. There are still indirect deaths. It doesn't matter how hard it is to overdose, if you drive while stoned, you can die. That being said, it causes far fewer deaths than cigaretts or alcohol. Even over the counter medications can be more dangerous. Tylenol, for example, kills hundreds of people every year. The government campaigns listing the dangers of marijuana are bullshit, but that doesn't mean it's 100% safe either.

I think it should be treated in the same way alcohol/smoking is. It's not a hardcore drug. It's funny how alcohol is categorised as a hard drug on Wikipedia and cannabis is classified as a soft drug yet cannabis is still frowned upon.
