Hey guys! I figured since quite a few of you have been asking for help, I'd post this. This idea is not a new one, nor one of my own creation. I heard about this wonderful way of stopping self harm on these lovely forums of our's, so I figured I would continue the legacy and spread the word.
The rules of this are quite simple; and are as follows.
When you feel like self harming (cutting, burning, etc.) you draw a butterfly on the place you want to carry the act out upon. You then name it after someone you love or care for. If you self harm before the butterfly fades, it dies. If you wash or scrub the butterfly off before it fads, it dies.
If this is something you are interested in, feel free to post how many butterflies you drew, their names, and where they are. If you are comfortable enough, post a picture of them here as well.
I suppose I will start us off.
I have seven butterflies on my wrist. Their names are Brayden, Dominic, Tracy, Anissa, Hallie, Mateja, and Heather.
Any ways, Stay Strong, Stay Safe.
Good luck to you all!

I've always thought it's a nice idea but I'm not going to do butterflies if I do it, I don't like the way it looks tbh. I might draw smiley faces or something though.

Tried it, didn't work, found it pointless. Just ended up with a load of cut in half butterflies

Same here I tried it well I sort of tried it, I didn't draw butterflies on my arms or wrists but I drew a flower on each hand (not on my palms but on the outer part of the hand) which was supposed to help distract me but it didn't help so I ended up washing the flowers off

I'm on the same boat as some of the other replies, the butterfly project never really motivated me to stop self harming, to me it was just a drawing on my skin, nothing more. I hope it works for you though, OP! Best of luck, and don't kill any butterflies!
