When a guy(or girl) fingers a girl, can they tell if thier hymen is still there? and what about during sex?

I'm like 99% sure I've popped mine already :( would just rather they didnt know

If you can easily insert a tampon all the way in, your hymen is probably gone. but you are still a virgin until you have had sex where the penis enters the vagina.

They will probably be able to tell. Hymens can break for lots of different reasons, even non sexual reasons. Some girls are born without a hymen. I don't think anyone will even give it a second thought when they realize your hymen is broken.

If a boy does it, he will probably never know the difference especially if he had never done it before. Girls will just think that I you don't have one then it got broken somehow and they aren't really going to care anyway.

They can't tell. They can't know that you're a virgin, that you masturbate or that you use a toothbrush (please, be safe with that) unless you directly tell them, so don't worry about it. They really can't tell, unless they are down there looking for it. I stretched mine that way it hopefully won't hurt as bad.

So far, there is barely any correct information in this thread. Don't spend so much time worrying about this hymen business when it's an archaic, fear mongering myth.

Even if you were to simply stretch it out now, because it's like elastic, it will revert to its original shape if no penetration occurs regularly to keep it stretched out.

Many things can break it like cycling, horseridding a tampon or masturbating.

I would say no boy even knows what that is. Unless you live in one of those Muslim countries where they actually check a girl for a hymen I would say don't even worry about it.

I actually didnt know this. I thought it broke or tore or something. Soo... i checked out webmd and Elysium is right. Its all myths.

OK -- so WHY do they call it "a cherry"???? Cause it doesnt look like any kind of fruit that i know of!! that phrase always confused me.

Fingering and many other activities (sports, horseback riding, tampons, etc) all can break the hymen (or, more accurately, stretch). It shouldn't be confused with virginity in any shape or form. Personally I had done some of those things and still had mine when I lost my virginity, but everyone is different. I would definitely recommend that anyone who wants to test or isn't sure when doing something that would tear it, be gentle as possible.
