Obviously this is the best point to see it from, as everyone "equal" and non racial benefits, But, fact of the matter is, this isn't realistic. Everyone everywhere has an opinion and in America, where we have the "rights" to say it/act on it, racial differences are just over the top. Typically if you live in a mostly dominant African-American neighbourbood, it's going to have more casualties compared to a mostly Caucasion neighbourhood. Why? We have no idea. But racial differences are definitely real in America and there is a lot of them in a lot of places. The majority of America is Caucasion and based on past and even current opinions, whites usually dislike blacks (depending on the circumstances and place, usually southern America). Ever been to Florida? Plenty of hate crimes and abuse on African-American folk. Unfortunately that's just how it is. So back to the original question, yes, depending on where you are you might have a higher risk of being assaulted as an African-American.

thought of the day: statistically the average African American has an exponentially higher chance of being murdered or sexually assaulted by someone of his or her own race than by someone of any other race. there's a Travon Martin murdered every day, but in most cases the perpetrator is also black. since murdering someone for being black is apparently considered worse by some than murdering someone for no reason at all, those far more numerous intra-racial murders tend to get buried while the media has a ball with the RACE WAR rabble-rousing.
