Asking this girl out?

My winter college semester is almost up, about another month to go, and I am always talking with this one girl in my class and she seems to like me since she always enjoys talking with me too. I want to ask her out, but should I wait until the last day of class so if she says no it will not be awkward for the rest of the semester? During the first days of class when we didn't know each other I always caught her looking over at me a smiling a tad.

I don't think she has a boyfriend since she has never mentioned anything like that when she tells me about what she is up to on her days off.

I think I will just ask her for a bite to eat or a drink afterward, the class we are in doesn't really require studying since its an art class. The only issue is that we both have to go to another class right after the one we have together so that will be tough.
