Awkward gyno experience?

I have been sort of wondering if I wanted to post this the past few days cause it's embarassing but then I thought maybe someone here could relate. So I had my first gyno appt this week with the pelvic exam and breast exam and all. I wasnt really sure what to expect but I ended up really enjoying it a bit too much and well you know...I wont go into details but it was very embarassing! Not to mention my doctor is a female and Im straight...weird! My doctor was really nice but I have to go back again in a few weeks to talk about birth control and Im like too embarassed to even go back! Has this ever happened to anyone else? I feel so confused about why it even happened..:what:

...I don't understand how having a female gynecologist is a big deal? For one thing, she knows what female parts are like... Also, I'd think since you aren't sexually attracted to, not would you be, that having a woman go down there would be easier. I, a gay person, would probably be afraid of becoming aroused the entire time (god forbid).

But anyways, gyno visits are usually pretty awkward. But they're absolutely necessary. Even if you want to remain celibate for life (do you?), you still have two breasts, a cervix, ovaries, a uterus, etc.

If you don't get regular exams, and you get an STD, you could become infertile or develop a serious infection. If you get cancer, they may find out once it's too late to do much about it, and you could die from something that could've been taken care of in an early stage. So while it may be embarrassing and uncomfortable, it's honestly in your best interest to just get over it.

If you're sexually active, or planning to be, you probably went because of this. It's a good idea to go when you become sexually active, or when you turn 18- whichever is earlier.

But honestly, everyone goes. (Or at least, everyone who is responsible does...)

it's happened to me before, I don't think I've had an orgasm but I have gotten turned on before. The followups aren't as awkward, but anytime you go to the gyno there is always going to be a little bit of uneasy feelings.
