Hey guys!
As you might have assumed from the title, I am trying to lose some weight that has been bothering me for a while. I'm 17 and currently weigh 72kg (about 158 pounds) which is alright if I was just a little taller than 165 centimeters (or 5"4). I used to be a pretty fit guy till a few years ago I suffered with Chronic migraines and Chronic fatigue syndrome as well other symptoms like severe insomnia and daily headaches, was pretty much bedridden in hospital for four months. Put on quite a lot of weight and lost all the muscle I once had, got myself a belly as well which I definitely don't want anymore.

I was treated for the chronic fatigue with CBT and medication, and luckily I've been pretty much cured of that while only experiencing fatigue when I perform too much strenuous exercise (but recovering pretty quickly anyhow, few days of sleep and rest). I still experience my migraines and insomnia but I got medication that sometimes works for me.

Now for what I actually wanted to talk about, I've started jogging 3 times a week for 20 to 40 minutes at a time and I'm doing two sets of 25 push ups, squats and crunches every day (one in the morning and one in the evening). I intend to increase this slowly as my body gets used to it, so by week four or five I'll probably be doing twice as much each day as well as more running overall. Also my diet is perfectly balanced with a couple of nice soups, salads and generally good meat and fish meals, all cooked with a Portuguese culinary twist (meaning its pretty healthy anyway you look at it). About 1500 calories or less each day I think.

What I'm wondering is if you guys think this is going to be enough to reach my goal of 60kg by next year? Also any other advice you guys can give me would be appreciated

Forgot to mention that I'm doing this mainly to get healthier and as active as I used to be before all that shit decided to happen in my body, just want to finally get over that depressing and near suicidal period of my life.

Well i think you don't eat enough calories. Seems like you're pretty active, so i would say you need 2000 calories maybe, and if you drop this number too drastically you will lose muscle mass instead of fat.
I highly encourage you to check this excellent website about fitness and nutrition, here's a calorie calculator to see precisely how much calories you should take:

For the rest it sounds good, i suggest to you to increase the weight you're lifting instead of doing more reps. It'll be more efficient in terms of muscle and strenght gain.

Wow, thanks for that site, it offers quite a lot of good information on exactly what I need. It suggested the same thing you said, got to eat about 2000 calories. It's gonna be slightly difficult for me to eat more since I'm usually full after a couple of bites of whatever meal I have, but I can probably add some snacks (got a packet of Ryvita sitting in my cupboard waiting to be eaten) for between my main meals or just eat bigger takings I guess.

For the lifting, I only have some pretty heavy dumbbells that should work out fine for lifting, right? I can't exactly afford a gym (or the gym equipment) at the moment so I wouldn't be able to do anything else if I wanted to, now just have find some good exercises for those dumbbells.

i think the workout part is fine, and honestly gym is not really useful, all you need is a pullup bar, a few dumbells and a carpet to do pushups. About your meals, it's never a good thing to keep eating after you feel full. The good way to add extra calories, if you're counting exactly what kind of stuff you're eating, is to count how many carbs, proteins and fibers you have to take a day, and add the rest of the calories as "cheat meal". Per example, if you need 2000 calories, ate all of your needed-for-the-day proteins, fibers and carbs with 1500 kcal, then you can eat 500 kcal of whatever you want.
