Did you notice that when your guy friends say that you're fat or ugly, they actually think the opposite? It's funny. And it's a complement at the same time x)

Or they actually think that and your kidding yourself. Or they are actually telling a joke and don't care about how you look. Or they are doing what most guys do and taking the piss out of everything no matter what. All are options.

None of my guy friends actually do this because they have the sense to realize how detrimental it is to say to someone, and I don't really think you can generalize the comment because in some instances the person might actually be fat and/or ugly, but if I were in your situation I'd probably get some new friends because it really isn't all that funny and backwards compliments aren't always compliments, you may just be putting that spin on it.

I would never tell a girl she is fat. that being said, when guys (as a whole) say a girl is fat it is because she is a chunky monkey

Yeaaaaaahhhh. No that's not how (most) guys are. We may be strange and misconceptional to girls, but such a behaviour suggests that your friends are either immature, brain-dead 13 year olds who are too scared to approach this mystical and unknown new species "girls" and insult them in order to demonstrate their dominance and compensate their infinitesimal dick sizes, or actually say the truth. There is a great way to figure out which: A mirror!

Sorry, satire must be xD

No, but I meant to rather attractive girls. That people actually compliment quite often.

Haha yeah. Well I consider myself attractive, or cute, or whatever but not in the "beautiful, gorgeous way" but in the "nice, alright way" but people tend to compliment me really often... and some of my guy friends tell me that I'm ugly but their smile and tone suggests that it's to tease me and joke. So... yeah. But the thread is about girls and such cases in GENERAL not about me...

usually if you're friends with a guy and they start calling you names in a joking way... its kind of a term of endearment. it means they actually like you, sometimes perhaps even more than they want to admit. the brave ones.. just come out and say it :)

but I would never call a girl I found attractive fat or whatever. I wouldn't do it anyways. it could just them being playful, but I know how many girls would react to that, even if just on the inside, so it is something I would not do. but no, I don't call girls I find attractive fat nor does any of my friends (that I know of)
