Classmate being mean?

Why is my friend being so freaking mean? We're friends, we talk, we laugh, we hug, we punch, we fight. We do everything xD He's like my older brother in some sort. (But he's generally like that will all girls, and pretty flirty as well).
I am slightly bigger (but more curvy and chubby than fat) and I don't consider myself fat, and when people think that or insult me I litterally ignore or tell them how I take this (that it doesn't affect me and that they are loosing their time).
Well lately he started saying stuff like: "You can't even pass, you're so fat!" Or "you're a cow!" and that's rather unpleasant. I just laugh with him, cause he laughs and that's just a funny thing, but I know that I shoudln't laugh.
Why is he suddenly so mean? He always likes to tease me but that's just... not okay. PLUS he is bigger. He is NOT skinny. He's slightly bigger than I am, but really tall so...

Why? Is it some way of communicating? Does he truly think so or is he joking?

If he's being a dick, drop him. People who insult you for fun, at your expense, and not with you, ain't worth it. But if you don't want to do that, next time he does it just tell him he's being a knob.

Sounds like he's just doing it cuz everyone else does and insulting others is a guy thing, not out of malice. If he's doing it out of malice then tell him how it makes you feel. If he won't listen drop him

But he is actually the only one who makes the joke, and some of my friends that like to tease me laugh too. He's not copying others.

well some guys don't always realize they are hurting people. true he shouldn't say it in the first place. talk to him and tell him how you feels. if he does not stop, then he is not a true friend

if he's big to he probably thinks it's okay to joke about it. like he's laughing at himself to. i bet if you tell him you don't like it, he'll understand.
