Hey guys, so I'm just wondering if Nicotine will show up in routine blood tests?
I'm having blood tests done later this week for a physical, and (for obvious reasons) don't want my doctors and parents knowing I use a product with nicotine in it (e-cig).
I doubt they'll be running any specific tests for nicotine itself, but I don't want it being some kind of red flag marker that shows up and makes them go "woah, what's this kid smoking?".
I know nicotine stays in your blood and urine for upwards of 30 days past last usage, and considering I just used my e-cig moments ago, I'd say I'm a little far beyond that threshold, so I just need to know what to expect.

I don't think so, not unless they look for it. I had blood tests the other day after smoking, and nothing happened so you should be good.

I've had blood work done yearly forever and looked through all the stuff they test for and nicotine is not on that list. The only things that are on the test about what you've ingested that I can think of are cholesterol and sugar. I think maybe someone being a heavy smoker might be indicated in blood oxygen (that's just a wild guess).

I think he means part of the screeninformation is for drugs, yours sounds like a test for you vital nutrients, blood count etc.

I think you should be fine, most drug test
S don't test for nicotine. The main ones the want to see are matijuana, cocaine, opiates (ex. Heroin), (meth) amphetamines they can test for other drugs too but most likely they'll be looking for these

Well, had the tests and the doc said everything looked good for a 17 year old.
No mention of any nicotine or anything which I know for a fact was in my system when I had the blood tests done!
I think I'm all clear.

that being said though I would highly recommend you quit smoking. even if things look ok right now, in the long run, smoking will cause serious damage

I had a friend who had used dipping tobacco (dip) every day, and he was on the football team. To be on the team, he had to take a drug test. It would come back negative, and he didn't quit dipping to take that test. So at least most of these tests don't look for any nicotine in your system.

I have to agree with this. Even if vaping is shown as less harmful than real cigarettes, it still can be a health risk, and it still can become a bad addiction. It is not a toy.
