So about a year ago last month, I got a job at Pizza Hut. I've worked there ever since and it's been my first job. I am currently 17 and I am starting to branch out and look for more jobs. I live in Ontario, Canada and find there are quite a bit of options.

The reason I want to leave my job is that I have anxiety problems and I want to leave this fast-paced food job and move into something more in my field of interests. I enjoy working with technology to do with computers, I love animals and I love law enforcement. Over the past few months I have submitted resumes around to places such as Futureshop, Petsmart, Pet Value, Best Buy, etc. None of which I have heard back from yet.

As the weeks grow on I start to regret not leaving. Each weak getting worse and worse, throwing me directly into a depression as it comes up. I only work two of the 7 days of the week but it really turns my happy mood into something worth ending my life over honestly. The days get really hectic since I only work Friday and Saturday. I work the usual 4pm-12am since I am still in school currently and plan to move onto College after highschool. But because of my school, that's just adding more stress.

I've had close encounters of putting in 2 weeks resignation notices but never fully went through with them. I really do want to leave as soon as possible, but I can't live without the income. I currently make minimum wage ($11.00/hour) and make a solid $500~ every two weeks for my hours. This $500 pays for transportation, food, drinks and other necessities including extra left over for self-pleasure like buying things I want. My parents never gave me money before my job so this was a blessing. The thing is is that most jobs don't hire teens.

Any advice on the subject and if I should leave now and just find a job after, or just keep putting up with all the shit and just keep looking...?

It's a difficult decision but start putting in for retail jobs (yes, everyone hates retail) but there is no food or time crunch, and they're probably looking for seasonseasonal workers. Don't let it go on for too long because your sanity and happiness aren't worth any sum of money

Easy, simple solution, hand in your notice. Bam, no more anxiety from a fast paced, high stress enviorment.

As for what to do about. a job, could you live on what you've saved up? That's what I did when I was fired from my fist job. But I only just made it though. Or, you could talk to your manager and see if it's possible to get your role switched to another? O did that at my last job, hated what I did, went to the manager, made some sacrifices (pay, hour, ect) and got moved to a different part of the business that I enjoyed (term used loosely)

if it is causing you that much anxiety explain it to your boss and let them know you have to quit. believe it or not, even if you are a good worker, they would be more comfortable having someone who is not as anxious (if they find out how anxious going to work makes you). they will understand, it is business. your happiness and health are way more important

Thanks for all the advice. I want to quit right now, but I don't want to look like a pussy complaining for only two days of work a week, but being too stressed about them...

You could volunteer in the mean time to calm yourself down. That is still work experience and it might open your mind a little bit. Every bit that you save is important. I do hope the best in your career goals and that everything goes well for you. :)
