Cognizant

So today I stopped in the Jamba Juice (smoothie chain in the US) that I work at during lunch since my friends and I were getting food in the same complex. I figured while I was there I would check my work schedule to see when I work next week. While back there I was approached by one of the managers (not the lead one though), who explained that I got a write off/infraction for missing work on Tuesday without appropriately informing the team. But I feel that I was wrongly given the infraction due to a lack of communication between my boss and I. Here's what happened Tuesday:
I woke up already knowing that there was no way I was going to be able to go to school because I felt like utter shit. I had my dad excuse me from school, but I held off on calling out sick for work in case I felt better. Long story short, I didn't feel better.
At around 2:30 PM (my shift was to start at 5), I tried calling the store's back office phone, but got no answer. I was a bit concerned at that point because I really didn't think I should go to work, but I know for a fact that not showing up for work without even letting my boss know would be a surefire way to kiss my job goodbye. Since I have her mobile number, I tried texting her the situation so that she would at least be aware. I never got a text back, so at around 3:30 I tried calling the store again.
This time, I did get through to the main manager (my boss), and I explained to her that I tried contacting texting her earlier to let her know that I probably shouldn't come in today. I forgot to mention that I tried calling the store before, but she didn't give me a chance to explain that. She said that was ok, but then lectured me on how I needed to call the store and not text her about that. Again, she didn't give me a chance to explain why I texted her instead of just calling again. I was a bit annoyed, but didn't think much of it after the fact.
tl;dr: I walked in to work today and got an infraction, and I feel that if I better explained the situation to her, that I would not have gotten in trouble. How do I go around dealing with this? Do I just sit quiet (there's no consequences to having an infraction other than it's on my record for 90 days), or do I try to explain to my boss my side of the story when I see her next?
