Are you fond of some film directors ? Or do you rather have an interest in some movies for other reasons (the actors, the scenarist, the novel that is adapted etc.) ?
I f you appreciate some film directors, who are you favorites ?

Some example of film directors I quite appreciate : Kubrick (Shining, Clockwork Orange), Daldry (Billy Elliot, The Hours) Tim Burton (Alice in Wonderland, Edward Scissorhand), Woody Allen (Midnight in Paris, Whatever works) and many others :)

Tim Burton definitely is one of my favorites as well, but I preferred the Christopher Nolan Batman films and those who mocked Inception just didn't get it, it's one of the best films ever made.

Beside Inception, there was Memento as well that was mind blowing, you have to be a genius to pull out something like that. There was The Prestige which was another impressive piece of work, I definitely think Christopher Nolan is the greatest modern director there is.

The whole genius of it reveals itself to you when you watch the movie again a second time, the story itself is pretty classic but the way it was put together is just incredible.

Kubrick (A clockwork orange, 2001)
Scorsese (his are kinda obvious, but The wolf of wall street was kinda great too)
Francis Ford Coppola (The godfather, Apocalypses now)
Tarantino (Pulp Fiction, Kill bill and Djando)
Spielberg (Too many we all know that but some are The Empire of the sun, Jurassic Park, Indies's)
George Luca (Only the first trilogy)
Terry Gilliam (Brazil)
D W Griffith (Intolerance)
Hitchcock (Vertigo)
Sergio Leone (A obvious one, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly)
Ridley Scott (Alien and Blade Runner)
James Cameron (Only before Titanic (Terminator, Aliens, etc.))

Regarding horror films John Carpenter (The thing and Halloween)
Ruggero Deodato (Cannibal Holocaust)

And some others, seriously I can stay like... forever

The dude who directed Yojimbo and the Seven Samurai

It's Akira Kurosawa, and yeah, he's one the greatest filmmakers ever.
He actually won the D. W. Griffith lifetime achievement from DGA (Directors Guild of America)

Christopher Nolan. Not just for Batman, but because of the Prestige.

Martin Scorsese is a great director! If you've seen Casino, Goodfellas, The Departed, Cape Fear you'll understand. A few of them have Robert De Niro in them and their story lines are well thought out and very interesting especially in Goodfellas albeit it was based on a true story but still & Casino.
