Asking Nobody To Homecoming

There was this guy I really wanted to ask to homecoming. He's smart and cute and kinda popular and crazy nice. We don't talk or anything but we have a few classes together so I wanted to ask and see if I could get closer to him, but when I asked my friends they all said I had no chance. I'm really shy at school and the awkward kid who sits in the corner and by now I'm feeling really down because this guy I was crazy in love with all summer is dating my once best friend and he told me I wouldn't have a shot with a guy like that. I just feel like I'm not good enough for anyone and I don't even want to show up to homecoming now because I'll be the one out of my friends alone and they'll be together and just ugh. I need help with how to talk to guys, how to move on and forget this guy and my old friend, or how to go and not be that weird third-wheel to all my friends.

To be honest I feel like you need new friends. Even me and my group of friends have problems but never have they made me seem less. It kinda pisses me off how they didn't encourage you and made you feel the way you do. I think if he's worth it you should take the risk because you don't want to ever say,what if? For example its my first year in high school but the years before, only about two, I had this huge crush on a boy but of course my friends had discouraged me so I never got the courage. For awhile I was upset because I knew I missed a good opportunity and I just don't want that to be you or anyone else because it sucks.
