Im a 19 year old and with my grandpa passing away last week I developed a serve anxiety disorder about getting cancer. My grandpa on my mothers side passed away from lung cancer and now my grandpa on my fathers side just recently passed away from lung cancer.

This was the first time I ever lost someone close to me as my other grandparent passed when i was young.

Anyway All cancer that occurred in my family is caused by preventable situations ( smoking)

But now I just have this anxiety and literally conniving myself I have some kind of childhood cancer like Leukemia or lymphoma.

Is there a reason why such young people get these kind of cancers like genetic or problems at birth? Is it really common

You don't have to worry, I know it's easier said than done, if you live your life in a healthy way it'll lower your risks for a lot of cancers, getting the HPV vaccine and prevent a couple as well, some aren't preventable, they just kinda happen, so do what you can to prevent a few, but realize there are somethings in life you can't account for. Do what you can while you can, but over time try to come to terms with it being an unlikely possibility

Genetic problems, environmental influences, chemicals, pretty much anything can trigger cancerous cells, just like little angsty teen kids.

I worry over stuff like that all the time. It's really just a matter of it running its course. Whatever I was paranoid about last month is something I'm no longer thinking about.

First of all, I want to give my sincere condolences, it is not easy what you just passed.

But, just like my pathology book says "The only certain way of avoiding cancer is not to be born; to live is to incur the risk."
And I, as a medical student, based on what I've been able to study, recommend you do checkups, cancer does not appear overnight, in most cases give signals to warn before they can do nothing. Do not be afraid, and hug the life as a dear friend.
