Hug, and signs - Meaningful or not?

Hey,

I'm pretty close friends with my crush, and lately I went to visit him and his sister (which is a very good friend of mine as well) in his house.
We spent great time. And I feel like he really likes me but I don't know if it's more than a friend or not.
After that, when I had to leave, we hugged. And I know that he used one arm, and put it up. You know what I mean XD. (but I'm not sure if the second one was on my waist, I don't remember xD It probably was). The hug wasn't too long, or too short, but it felt really special and tight. I wasn't tight all the time, it's like he squeezed me for a moment, and then released and the hug was over.
You probably know what I mean. I really feel like this wasn't a friendly hug. Maybe it was something in between. Or maybe I'm just imagining everything.
And when we travelled together, I laid my head on his shoulder, cause we were both tired and wanted to sleep so bad! And this maybe seems what usual friends would do, but it felt special too. And I think that it was special for him as well.
And we were kind of flirty with each other, but that was quite a while ago.

Now, he is just extremely nice, he makes lots of eye contact, smiles, teases sometimes, laughs at my jokes etc.
And I feel like I have great chances, but I'm not sure.
My best friend is crushing on him, and she thinks that he is crushing on me. And I told his sister, that she thinks so, and his sister didn't seem like really surprised or upset about it, and I said that it's impossible, and she was like: why? Maybe it's true.
But she claims to not know.

I'm sorry guys, I know how long and problematic this seems. But what do you think about the whole? And the hug especially too? What type of hug this is?

Honestly it does sound like he likes you but there's only one way to find out and if you try all I can say is good luck

I love our friendship though and I don't want to destroy it. I'm not even sure that I truly want to make our relationship different than it is now. I considered him as a brother for a long time. :/

it sounds like he likes you. and honestly, if you two are that close, I am not sure simply asking him will ruin your relationship. I guess there is the possibility that it could, but too me, it sounds like he is either interested in you, or he is the type who would not be hurt/offended that you asked him.

the only way you will ever be able to know in the end is ask him. sometimes the best relationships started off as the best friendships

I would wait and take your time and see what happens. You can all ways send small signs to him too. He sounds like a great friend and I would hate to see him get upset over a misunderstanding.

Yeah, me too... :/ The thing is that we don't even see each other often. We live far, and we don't text much.
We see each other once in a few months, even though we're really close. And I'm scared that he'll eventually loose that bit of interest that he might have. I don't feel like dating or asking him out, but it's always nice to know that someone has a crush on you, and knowing where the relationships is going towards to.

And that's a thing addressed to everyone - what is the thing with the sister though? She really didn't seem surprised. And then she was like: it's always nice when someone has a crush on you. It feels good. And then she added: would it be bad if he had a crush on you? And then be like: Oh, I don't know!
Maybe she knows something? Or am I just creating this thought up?
This seems soooooo messed up, I know xD

And another thing - I actually spent a while thinking about the hug too, and read something about it, and I'm not sure anymore. It might've been special for me just because I like him probably more than he does. Maybe it was a completely friendly hug?
