I have a minor under-bite. It's nothing major, and in all honesty, I'm not that bothered by it. But my Dentist suggested surgery to fix it. I'm not wild about the idea of being put to sleep and having my jaw broken just so something that barely anybody notices can be fixed.
But obviously, as I am, I'm split minded. So I've come to ask for a bit of public opinion. If you had an under-bite, even a minor one, would you go through surgery for it?

I kinda hate my overbite, but I think I'll just live with it. IMO, unless you're extremely self-conscious about it, or it interferes with your eating/gives you a lot of pain, it shouldn't be a bit deal, but in the end, it's your choice.

I would DEFINETLY NOT SUGGEST SURGERY.
Ofcourse it would be "ideal" which is why your dentist might suggest it,
but there are much easier and better ways.
I used to have a huge underbite, but I got rid of it simply
- Jaw-adjusting braces, or whatever they're called; I got them too, basicly you wear them in the evenings and nights, and what they do is they push your teeth so that you actualy get a simulated overbite. After a while your face adjust to a perfect midposition.
- Nose breathing. This sounds silly, but your face actualy develops to adjust to your breathing. Mouth breathing gives for flabby necks and overbites and hooked noses, while nosebreathing gives a better bite.
Hope this helped :)

try to look at other options. also consider what will happen if you don't get it. while recommended in the long run, is their potential for more serious damage/pain down the road? it sounds like right now it doesn't bother you at all and unless there is a serious threat in not getting it fixed and you don't want surgery, I don't see any reason why you have to do it
