So, a few days ago I made a thread about how I was planning to smoke, and now I did. I honestly really enjoyed it, and I was kind of upset I enjoyed it. I was sort of hoping I wouldn't like it, but I guess there's a reason so many people do it. I'm rather concerned that I don't care much about the health risks, that's probably a deeper issue. I think I'm gonna keep smoking though. I know It's so terrible for me, but I like it more than I care about my health, and the thing is, it actually works for my anxiety, it actually calms me down.

Everytime you think of smoking just think about how upset it made you feel originally. How much damage is this going to do in the long run as well?

You could always try to get one of those e-cigarettes they use water vapour with close to no health concerns

I knew it! Once someone tries it, they'll definitely be addicted. I'm never going to try smoking. lol sorry, rambling.
It's good that you could manage your anxiety, even if it's only momentary. Hope it doesn't leave any bad effects on you though..

I definitely wouldn't recommend it. I thought it would be bad, like it's addictiveness but it's stronger than I imagined.

I told ya man. I don't know how much a pack cost down in Missouri, but it is terribly expensive up here. I am glad I do not have the interest in even trying

You're openly acknowledging the damage this can do, and I understand no one really cares about their health now. Most of us are secretly destroying it one way or another, but one day it will matter. You'll be 38 looking and sounding like you're 60. Your significant other and children (if you choose to have them) will be begging you to quit. Maybe you'll decide on your own. Maybe you'll lose a few fingers and toes and still not want to stop. Who knows? I understand anxiety sucks. I understand you want something to calm you down and make it go away. But these feelings are relatively temporary compared to the life you have ahead of you. By doing this you're almost stopping yourself from being able to grow from the place you're in. There are so many other methods of dealing with your anxiety that wont put you in a position where you can't progress and won't permanently damage you. Keep in mind that this, like many decisions, doesn't only effect you, there are plenty of people now, and moving forward, who would hate to see you slowly destroy yourself like this. My best advice: stop while you can. It'll be harder once you get into it more, so make your escape before it traps you.

I enjoyed my first cigarette too. I'm not gonna give you a lecture, because I know it's not gonna change anything. If you DO choose to keep smoking, try to keep it to a minimum.

I can't tell you not to smoke because I do too. But I literally do it very occasionally. If things get super bad I usually have one but it's literally like 1 every three - five weeks. Never ever start that thing where you have them everyday, you'll be hooked for years.

Cigarettes cause cancer. They're expensive. They smell like all sorts of mega-nasty unbelievable things and the stench "locks on" to you, things around you and other people around you.
After a while, you may not realize it, but that's just because you're so used to the stench.
I understand anxiety...trust me, I do. Tests, social life, job, whatever it is... in most cases, anxiety is an awful thing. But there's probably a better way to go about dealing with it other than doing something known to give people cancer. Listen to music, go for a walk. Go for a run. Pet your dog/cat/whatever you have. Play with yourself in whichever way you want to. Draw a picture. Buy a dartboard or punching bag. Play video games.

I definitely wouldn't recommend it. I thought it would be bad, like it's addictiveness but it's stronger than I imagined. It sure is addicting. I had someone who died because of smoking:(
I guess, don't make it a daily thing. But I'm sure you'll work things out eventually..goodluck!

Sure, it calms you down.
What about after the third cigarette? Fourth? What about when you are smoke two packs a day?
What about the time you run out?
Maybe you just wait till the next day. However, that anxiety is coming back, it is worse that is ever was. It hurts , it almost makes you sick to your stomach. You pace. You know you only have to wait till the next day. It's okay, it is only one night. I just have to stay busy. Maybe I will watch a movie. That will work because I will be engaged, not thinking about that smoke. Then it gets to a part where you see a cigarette. Boy that looks good, but you don't have any till tomorrow. It's only been an hour, but you can hold out right. You choose to ignore it. Pretending you never saw the guy taking that first puff. You can wait.
Then next morning comes, you get to the store just before it opens. You wait in your car till the open light comes on. You open that pack as soon as you get it. You light the smoke, that is good. Yet is it all worth it in the end?
Take it from me. You will live a life of greater hell than if you have some anxiety. Smoking more than a pack a day sucks. It costs a fortune and well the chances of death are greater than a car crash.
Good luck and quit now while you are ahead. I started when I was thirteen. That was nearly ten years ago. The chances of me quitting are pretty low.

I can relate to the part about your anxiety, smoking also helps when you are stressed, it can take the stress away, and nothing feels better than smoking a fag when you've not had one in ages! Other than that it does nothing for you, take this from someone who has been smoking for 5 years. Quit while you can and don't get addicted, it costs nearly £8 for 20 fags, the average smoker smokes 20 a day, alternatively you can buy rolling tobacco which is much much cheaper, however it is also much much more horrible on the taste buds, the throat and the lungs. If you don't care for your health then surely you care for your pocket, don't waste the money, believe me I have probably spent £1000 between then and now on cigarettes, imagine if I had saved that up. So please, don't get addicted, you'll thank me down the line.

^holy christ 13 bucks for a pack of smokes...it'd almost be cheaper to smoke weed lol
a few smokers I know roll their own cigs, you can buy a pound of pipe tobacco at the Indian smoke shops here for around $12. still not any safer for your health but at least you won't waste as much money on the habit.

Well, try to not go too overboard. If not, you will get hooked and addicted. It will hurt you money wise and health wise. I do wish you luck towards this though as I know addictions and habits are tough to beat. Take care of yourself. :)

Sigh* Dude... don't smoke. You'll wind up like me and have the worst cough ever. I don't even smoke anymore and I still have tar in my lungs when I cough... It may calm you down but its only temporary, there are better things than smoking, You just got to find it. You'll smell terrible though, I'm not gonna say anything else, Not trying to sound mean but I gave you advice however you ignored it so this is my last piece of advice I can really give. I second hand smoked for most of my younger years ( not voluntarily of course ) till I was about 8 and I smoked myself till 2012 ( I don't remember how old I was when I started though off the top of my head ) but I feel better physically and financially. Just remember, it costs to smoke... emotionally, physically and financially.

I enjoyed it too, now I have no legitimacy to tell you to stop because I'm a chain smoker but I'll tell you won't be able to control the consumption. It's an addiction, it's controling you. I smoke a pack a day, not counting the cigs I gave to random people who asked or the half-smoked ones. Luckilly cigarettes here are dirt cheap. 2 bucks for a decent brand. I used to smoke local ones that had a good taste, like Marlboro, almost half the price, but now smoke Camel Blue which is a bit more pricey. Also keep in mind that more expensive cigarettes go down faster, that's the case here at least. I can do a Camel in three minutes but the Sarajevska Drina I smoked could go on for 6 minutes minimum. It's really hard when it switches from a habit to an actual physical addiction because habits are easier to break.

I wish I never started. I started when I was 15 and stole a pack from my mom. If I run out or don't have any on me I turn all scattered brain and start craving it bad. It's a ridiculously expensive habit and it's turned my cardio to crap.
