Generally it seems that a lot of people in the US and UK seem to lose their virginity at a younger age (12-15), than people in other countries (specifically some Asian ones), where some people haven't even got a girlfriend yet at this age

Just wondering, is this actually true, or am I just stereotyping. If it is true, why do you think it happens?

Ive seen some media reports that would suggest the same.

Entirely stereotyping - especially seeing as child abuse and marriage are massively embedded in islamic culture, in Middle Eastern regions.

It's a horrific state of affairs.

Our country is just more open about it. Parents are becoming friends and less of parents and not instructing their kids well enough. Bad influences, pop culture tv. Whereas children in those other countries are forced to do well in school or be disowned and put down by their family. Just a complex answer, other factors play into it as well.

I agree we are just more open about it. maybe to some extent it is true as a whole, but there are still plenty people in Asian countries and whatever having sex at a young age and not all of them are being forced too (the child sex scandals over their is scary high)

I would definitely say that's a stereotype.

The reason - we have people from across the world on this forum alone who have said they have lost their virginity, or are sexually active at all different ages.

I keep hearing that girls, even before pubity, having sex. I'd talked to a 10 year old, she said she had sex when she was 8.

I'd say it's a stereotype. 12-15 is honestly not that common, in the US I would say the average among the general population is probably actually 16-17. In fact according to a worldwide survey that came out a few years ago the US and UK are relatively early, but not the earliest:

Granted it's based on self-reporting and was taken by a condom company, so it's not necessarily going to be 100% accurate.

judging from here, I would say it's the opposite. At least for the US, but UK and England generally seem like people there loose their virginity earlier than the US. I think the US society tends to shame sex more than other countries, and our schools usually teach abstinence.

I agree it is happening but the important thing is that most of them are smart enough to have birth control...and as long as it's safe I see little to no harm
