Make sure that your skin is well moisturized, maybe try shaving cream/etc., or make sure it is wet enough. Also make sure that the blade you are using isn't too dull, and that you're not pressing too hard when you shave.

You should effortlessly shave with a good blade and a lot of moisturization. I shave my "beard" right after I take a bath, and I don't even use anything beyond more water and the razor to shave.

Just to add, if you do cut yourself, try to take care of it. Get some rubbing alcohol or some type of antibacterial and put it where the cut is. Use aftershave and lotion.

never shave dry and always shave with the direction of the way it grows - which is usually down, never up - and moisturize after to keep the itching down

I would agree with what everyone has said so far. Remember to let your pores open up with warm water, usually I just take a shower beforehand. Always use some form of moisturizer like shaving cream or gel when you shave. ALSO: Sometimes more blades doesn't equal a smoother shave. 2-3 blades function perfectly and are less likely to irritate your skin. 5 blades is really overdoing it and is really just a gimmick. Go with the grain and when you are done shaving, pat the area dry, don't rub it. Finally, adding a moisturizer on afterwards helps lock in moisture keeping your skin from drying out. I totally understand what happens to you with this, my skin is incredibly sensation O.O

Best of luck!

Use water or shaving cream. Only shave downwards

I always shave against the way it grows bu7ut only get little razor bumps. I sometimes use a bit of aftershave which burns at first but helps against razor bumps in the end.

i asked my dad about this question and he says the best way to do it is to 1) clean your face really well, 2) use a decent shaving cream, 3) use a good sharp razor, 4) shave in one direction - downward, cause this is the way your hair grows, 5) rinse with cold water to close your pores, and 6) moisturize with a non alcoholic cream and that should help you with your issue. he says everyones face is different, so its a bit of trial and error

Use shaving cream/soap and make sure that your razor isn't blunt.

You have to shave in the way your pubic hair grows. Don't shave in the opposite direction because that causes irritation and ingrown hairs.

I've been shaving for years and only get a few bumps a year. I'm good at it now :P

Not sure if you're talking about shaving your face or body, but I guess the same rules generally apply. Make sure your razor and skin are clean first. If you have long hair, you should trim it first before you shave, otherwise I find the hairs can get pulled by the razor which hurts. I usually finish with cold water to close the pores and don't moisturize right away. When I do moisture after shaving I avoid any oil based moisturizers as they tend to clog pores and lead to bumps. Also shave in the direction of hair growth if you can.

use an elecrtric razor, it looks good (exept if you have very thick black hair) and it' totally bump/ingrowth hair free.

Yea shaving cream is really helpful.
I use it whenever I shave.
And yes...a dull blade...is almost worthless and needs replacement

Take a shower first and let it get really hot and steamy. It helps make the hair softer and easier to shave. Use a good shaving cream and fresh razor.
