Well, after 14 years, my Dog Ellie Mae was put down, she broke her jaw and the vet said she was to old for surgery because if she had it, she'd either die in the surgery or she'd die after it from a heart attack because her heart was clogging up :( .... She was a BIG dog btw, she was a good one though, her life expectancy was about 8-10 years so she lived a long time. I'm not sure how to feel right now, I'm upset but im not sad or crying atm, its like I don't know how to react. First my cat has to be putdown because of a nasty virus she had and now my dog.... am I not supposed to have a pet ? Idk.... :(

I am so sorry, Ryan. You have been a wonderful owner and I'm sure they know it too. I'm surprised she lived that long, I think that's amazing. I know how it feels like to lose a pet, I lost mine unfortunately. Think about all of the good times you've had with them.

I'm so sorry. :( At least she lived a lot of good, long years though, right? Just remember the happy moments. I've lost a lot of pets, and that's what gets me through.

I'm so sorry for your loss Ryan. I know how it feels to lose an animal that you grew up with. I had a dog named Bear and I pretty much grew up with her for the first 10 years of my life. It was even harder the last few months because I knew she was dying. I wish there was much advice for me to give you.

Yeah.... I wish I did more for her now that she's gone now :(

Yeah... It seems like everyone is getting old, I just don't see how its fair that my dog had to die, my great aunt mer mers cat missie just turned 22 years old a month ago :/ I wish my dog could've lived to be that old but not have the side effects ( blindness, deaf, motor issues etc. )
Your comments help, thankyou for them everyone  .

I'm really sorry to hear about that, Ryan. Even though pets aren't human they're still family and it is really difficult to lose family. I wish you all the best. I hope you're doing ok. Idk what to say really other than we are all here for you. Good luck, man. I'm sure you were a great owner, and that your dog, Ellie Mae, was a great dog.

I'm really sorry to hear about your dog. My first dog died when I was about 7 years old, she was 16. Your dog, like mine, had a good, long life, and I'm sure was loved very much -- that's all a dog can really ask for. Dogs unfortunately don't live very long, compared to humans at least, and at least you got to love and enjoy her. It hurts, but will get better with time. Maybe you could get another dog when you're ready? I know it may sound cold, but it helps with the grieving process. Sorry again for your loss, Ryan.

:( poor Ryan, I am sorry bud. losing a pet is like losing a best friend. it is totally understandable to be upset. I a not ashamed to say when I had to put my dog down last year. I had it from 3-15. it's heart breaking to lose a pet. they are not just an animal, but a friend, even part of the family.
when the time is right though, another pet may help. at least she was able to have such a wonderful family to live with

Your pets were only around a a small part of your life. You were there for all lf theirs. Now if that's not the nicest thing you can do for a living thing, i don't know what is. I wish i had someone there everyday for me, just every morning, every night
You did good for them

Thanks for all the comments, they helped me and are continuing to help me. I feel better now than I did then. I'm still mourning but the hard part has passed and I'll slowly be getting a new dog ... or cat... I have yet to decide.... Maybe a fish...
