Hey,

It's been a while since I posted here, a lot of stuff has gone on (like moving to uni).

So anyway, I may have this problem where I've been talking to two different people with the same first name and believed that they were the same person. And now I don't know what to do about it.

Right, so this person in the same accommodation as me (Allan C) , he lives a few floors down from me and we see each other occasionally.

At the welcome party we talked (above the loud music) about a game called hearthstone where I pretty much just asked if he played it. The conversation didn't go far due to the loud music.

A few days later, I see someone on battlenet (the client that hosts hearthstone) as a nearby player (meaning they are on the network connection as me). So I add them and ask them who they are, he says his name is Allan, so I assume that it's the one from downstairs and that he's playing it because we spoke about it.

After we confirm RealID (the security bit that reveals players names to each other) it shows him as Allan J. I took no notice of this, since everyone here is only really on a first name basis.

According to Facebook, the Allan in my accommodation is Allan C. Though I didn't check this until Allan J said that he only lives with 3 people. That doesn't add up because in my building there are about 21.

So, assuming at Allan C and Allan J are in fact different people. I've only spoken to Allan C in person and only Allan J online. But Allan C is really friendly and I think he may possibly like me.

This makes things awkward because I don't know how to verify if these people are different without giving it away. I don't want Allan C to know that I've mistaken him for Allan J.

This is mainly just a rant, it's an awkward situation to explain. But any suggestions as to how I can achieve this would be appreciated :D

Thanks

Just ask him if that's his screen name. I don't think it sounds creepy at all because if you turn out to be wrong, that is a honest mistake. How many people with the same name, play the same game, in the same building. lol? It can't be that much of a coincidence.

Ok is it uni halls you are in - so if its apartments Allan may share with just 3 others,

would it be the case he tried to register a screen name and his choice was already taken so maybe used his middle name,

Maybe you could just ask him - when he will next be on to play -

seems ok to me.
