Actually you don't know its an addiction until you have tried giving up. If he cant do without for long periods of time then he is addicted. Its like everything else for example alcohol, you can only drink on weekends and still be an alcoholic, or even if you are a smoker ho smokes only twice a day unless you an genuinely stop instead of saying "I can stop any time I want to." its an addiction. I tried to see if I was addicted to masturbating and so instead of going for my usual twice a day I would try to go one month without. I lasted three days!
