Hi.

Basically, i'm in honors for all my classes, and my teachers give me loads of homework. I have science every day, plus a project due at the end of the week, I have to read a chapter in a book and write about it, I have to write history notes everyday, and I have 10-40 problems of geometry.

On tuesday my history teacher started a new chapter and told us we had a 30 problem write the answer style test. I haven't studied at all and I have it tommorow 1st period! I know I shouldn't of held it back until the last minute, but I did.

Any tips to help me get a better grade? memorizing vs studying?

I'm not that great at history either. Do you know what section you're going to be tested on? I would have suggested process of elimination, but that isn't possible here. Sometimes the answers are found throughout the test. For example, problem three might have the answer to problem one. It would look something like this:

1.) Find the missing angle of a four sided geometric figure, a square, if three of the angles measure 90 degrees?

3.) What is a four sided geometric figure?
A- Square
B- Circle
C- Triangle

I hope this helps.

Okay thx. It is about West Africa culture- how Islam spread through it and all the trade stuff. I'm going to wake up a bit earlier tommorrow and go through the basics in my textbook.

Skimming through the textbook is one way, but you should also go over the notes you took in class as well as the worksheets that were handed out. Read it out loud, try to highlight and annotate, and try to understand the context. Eat a healthy breakfast, breathe, and you're ready to go. I wish you the best!

I'd love to help, though I don't do much studying myself. When I'm unsure of how I'll fare, I make a notecard with all the information I don't know/need to know for the test and I keep it with me at all times. Put it on my car's dashboard, bring it to all my classes and give it a good read immediately before the test. May not be as lasting information retention, but has certainly helped when I question my ability to pass it. Copying your notes onto another piece of paper is also great; writing the information down several times helps it stick.

Well, take notes in class and take the worksheets. Then see what's the most important part in the textbook, highlight it and devote most of your time to it.

I know the basics of how Islam spread through West Africa: The Muslims got untied under Mohammed and fought wars against the other pagan tribes. Their winning brought Islam to West Africa. Sadly I know nothing about West African trading. Do you live in America? If so read through your books and notes and you'll be good.

Sliming through a text book works, so long as you already know most of what you need, apart from that, no idea,

Next time, don't do something to stupid....

It wasn't a stupid thing to do. Everyone makes mistakes and people learn from them.

Yes, I am perfectly aware that it was a mistake, a stupid one.

I'm sure she was already aware of that. I don't think there was a need to make her feel worse. She already knows she should have studied.

History is one of my strongest subjects. I don't know what grade you're in, but if the test is multiple choice, it's usually the easiest way to do it due to process of elimination. The best way to handle a test like this is to skim through your book. Write down notes that you KNOW will be important/maybe on the test, then study those notes on the bus, in the morning assembly, during the pledge, whatever you gotta do.
