So I'm going to run with some group now weekly.
Any tips/advice?
I'm planning on buying good shoes for it.
Anyone have experience?

DEFINITELY buy running shoes if this is gonna be a regular thing. Also remember to keep well hydrated, pace yourself, and stretch :P
I also like the Nike Running app. Just a neat little way to track how far you go, how well you feel after runs, etc. And it cheers you on too, occasionally. Let's you know when you've beat a personal record. Ooh- and if you choose to get Nike shoes, it'll track the mileage on those puppies, which is pretty useful.

Hydration is pretty good actualy, I almost forgot, I should probably bring a bottle with water etc.
That app sounds interesting.

Have fun.
Don't make it something you do begrudgingly. Think about how good it feels afterwards, use that to push yourself. because trust me, running is hard, especially when you are doing it consistently.

I know it's hard, but I've been doing it for a long time and I just want to take it to the next level.
I actualy like the way it feels while running, it's tyring but it feels good to me, much better than lifting or something.
It's just that I need a litle motiviation, I often forget to run or just don't have time for it, now things like that won't happen anymore I guess.
And thanks, I will have fun I hope

Listen to all of these other people's advice, but whatever you do, DO NOT BUY NIKE RUNNING SHOES. They are crappy and dont hold up well. If you are willing to spend the money, buy the Under Armour Speedfoam's or any pair of Asics or Saucony's. Just stay away from Nike, they are out to make money, not good shoes. This is straight from my personal trainer/cousin.
I personally use The Speedfoam's and they are really nice and very lightweight.

Do regular leg stretching for runners. Keep up on potassium to help prevent cramps. Like eat a banana before you run or some other high potassium food. But don't use a potassium supplement.

good shoes, stay hydrated . stretch.try to keep a positive attitude, it can be hard to get into running, but many people begin to really enjoy it. it can help doing it with friends or even have some music to listen to

Thanks. it can take time to get use to. I will say though it is not for everybody and if it turns out not to be for you, find some other type of cardio you can do

Don't quit too early on the sport! It's lots of fun, but takes time to get used to it. For me now, going for an easy run is the equivalent of sitting around and doing nothing (i.e. effortless really) except its much more productive and fulfilling!
Then again, I may be biased as I run a lot... but either way just stick with it!

Thanks for the comments everyone.
Just had my first go at it today. I ran about 4.5 miles, with 3 small stops in between. I could walk with the "faster" group because of my long legs and thin build. It was a nice experience, I did a proper warm up so It didn't strain my legs, and by the time it started getting tiering, we were already near the end.
I'll be going to do something similar about 2 times a week now.

Make sure you stretch first! I love my nike 5.0 running shoes, they're super comfortable! I go running with my friends several times a week and it definitely makes it more fun than running solo.
Good Luck!

Thanks! I always stretch a little and it really helps. It's definetly a lot more motivating to be in a group.

Yeah, pace yourself, and go for miles and not speed. HYDRATE. stretch, and if you feel hurt or anything then stop. start out slow haha. And yeah definitely use nike run. That app is amazing.

Running is best exercise for fitness. Its a best way to get for strength and to burn all extra fat and calories. Running helps to maintain weight. I am also a runner and suggest everyone to join a running group.

It's best to eat more if you're running a lot. A good meal before a race will help.
