Guys who cut?

Hey, I was wondering, is there any other guys out there who cut? I have never met another guy who does. If you are a guy, or you know a guy who cuts, please reply to my post, really want to know if there are other guys too!

It's not something mainly done by one gender, it is very common amongst guys, I'm male and I cut (very unfortunately), although I do think it is more common amongst women, I THINK I read a figure indication that somewhere, but I may well be wrong.

I am a guy, that *used to* cut. For some reason though, the face of self harm seems to be stereotypically white and female. When I spent my two-three weeks in the mental hospital, I did, run into a few male cutters, and minority cutters as well.

I used to and I know quite a few other guys who have in the past. I find that girls seem to be less subtle about it sometimes and are more open to their friends about it, while guys usually hide it more and don't tell anyone.

Now that you mention it, I don't really see self harm as being a big issue between guys. It is normally girls who are involved with this. But strangely enough, I have seen from three different guys who I was close with, not really friends, but on their upper arm I did see what I thought were self harm scars.

I never brought it up to them because I was partly shocked and scared and felt sorry for them. Then I also didn't speak up because I didn't know for sure if they were cutting. The thing is I don't know if it was actually caused by self harm or by an injury or something. But usually you can tell what cutting scars look like. Then again, I don't know if it's because girls have makeup and can cover them easily.

I've never seen it as an issue that had much to do with gender.
I do know guys that self-harm. Plenty of people do, regardless of gender.

Yep, I'm a guy who used to self-harm. I say used to but I'm only like 16 days clean. It's been an on-and-off relationship for around four years now. When all the people I thought cared leave me hanging, the blades are there. That sounded a lot less depressing in my head.

I cut about everyday and holy shit it is deep...and guys do it too no just girls but its more common for girls to do it. I forget its like one in fifteen guys do it and one in five girls do it.

I think it's equal between both genders cutting but I think guys can hide it better because they can always wear jeans and tee shirts and no one questions it.

The figures for self harm are now seen to be equal among genders.

I am a guy, and I've cut for many years, though now it is quite rare that I do it.
There are plenty of musician guys who have had self harm problems at some point in their lives: Iggy Pop, GG Allin, Henry Rollins (Black Flag/Rollins Band), Jacoby Shaddix (Papa Roach), Casey Chaos (AMEN/Scum), Korn's Jonathan Davis (though this one has never been confirmed, but his lyrics insinuate it.), Per "Dead" Ohlin (Mayhem), Maniac (Mayhem), Marilyn Manson.... Ect.
There are plenty of guys who have a history of cutting. One of my friend's used to cut himself. It's a pretty common thing, really. It's not a gender problem, it's a human problem.
