View Full Version : Glasses or Contacts?

Which do you prefer? Do you like the way you look with glasses?

If you don't have visual impairment, have you wondered what you'd look like with glasses on?

I don't like the way I look with glasses on most times :P I prefer contacts for a few reasons, actually.

For one, they can't fall out as easily... Or get smudged as easily.

I need glasses to read sometimes, so I go just for the glasses. If I had to wear it full time...I dunno, I think I might be a glasses type of guy

I tried contacts, but over time my eyes became super dry, they made me feel more tired too.

I really prefer glasses, they are super comfortable, easy on-off, and they look cool. :D

Dryness is a problem I have with my eyes in general, so I've learned to make eye drops my best friend. XD

I ended up having to get contacts because wearing glasses at work was going to be too big of a hassle. I was fucked whenever I had to go in grill tho.

I have 20-20 (or at least somewhat close to 20-20) vision, and even though I can't read small text very well, I wear neither, but when I'm like 25 and I've grown a significant beard, I'mma get me some glasses, because I think I'd look good.

Just make sure they are falsies unless you need a prescription, else it can actually damage your vision!

I'm scared to use contacts, the idea of introducing something touching my is... not my cup of tea. I wish it were, I don't like the look of glasses myself.

I like the way I look with glasses, but I prefer wearing contacts; they're far more practical. Can't get lost, broken, dirty... etc. I do wear glasses at home, though.

Neither did I at first, honestly. But it was just getting too impractical to be blind at work. :P

I usually wear glasses at home as well. Sometimes they make their way off my face and get lost in random places though, stinking ADHD. I wish I was more cognizant of my actions sometimes.

Whilst I am visually impared, (sort of but not really, long sighted in one eye but not the other) I am entitled to glasses but I really don't want them, it's not worth the hastle, I can see well enough without them. But I nprefer glasses to contacts, I tried contacts, just hopped straight on the nope train with a ticked to nopesvill.

I thought I was too tough for glasses once

Now I can barely see a foot in front of my own face :P As...Horrendous as it sounds, I might opt for LASIK (You think CONTACTS are a big fucking nope? Do I have some news for you!) at one point (my aunt told me all about what they do... Yeeeeah contacts are so tame in comparison. So tame. This coming from flinchy mcflincherson.) JUST because being so blind is extremely inconvenient and scary for me, but I don't know...

Exactly like me, then. Contacts are much more practical, and they are cheaper in long term too. I've started wearing them three years ago and I haven't had any problem or issue, like conjunctivitis. And they are super comfortable as well, you might feel a bit uncomfortable for the first two weeks, true, but after that, if you keep good hygiene manners when handling them, I'm pretty sure you won't have any problem.

Well, as long as you have good hygiene manners, you won't get eye infections, I guess. But I've seen pictures of you wearing glasses, I suppose, and you look quite good with them, so you should stay that way, whatever makes you happy and comfortable. :)

I wore glasses for six years before I got contacts this June, and I can say without any doubt that contacts are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better, at least for me. I've been wearing glasses for quite a few years now and at this point I think they have actually become a part of me. I look so much better with them on, and I'm kind of scared of putting things in my eyes, so contacts were never an option for me. But since I'm getting into cosplaying, I'll have to get some contacts because almost none of the characters I want to cosplay wear glasses. So I'll just suck it up.
For everyday use though, I'll stick with glasses forever probably.

Ahh, yeah, tough to find any characters who have glasses...Unless you specifically look for that trope...

Like 'can't see people's faces when you don't wear glasses/have to wear glasses to watch tv' bad, or "EVERYTHING IS BLURRY" bad? I'm the former. Which sucks, because I used to have 20/40 I think (my vision was perfect- really sharp before age 13 or so) but nooo, I had to go and fuck up my eyes by having my face a foot from an electronic screen for...Well, five years straight, pretty much. :whoops:

I can still see faces, but I can't read anything that's more than like two or three feet away from me, and it's hard to make things out that are a little far away as well. Everything is a tad blurrier (wow that's a word?) without them, and I'll get a headache eventually, so I always wear them.

Ah. I'm about the same then, except for me everything up to 1-2 feet away is pretty sharp. Facial expressions are hard to read though, so it's really no consolation that I can *somewhat* see the facial features of someone within hearing range. And actually, funny thing, I get headaches when I wear glasses for too long because of the pressure on my skull and ears (it's really sensitive there??), and when I wear contacts too long as well because you're really not supposed to with the kind I have.

*sigh*

Have you tried different frames? Changing frames helped a lot for me. I used to hate my glasses, and thought they were so uncomfortable, but then I got the pair I have now and I hardly even feel them, at this point I don't at all.

Contacts are only really a hassle if you have to clean them.

If they're daily ones? Not really a huge deal. If they're two-week/month/etc.?

Had glasses for 9 years, got contacts about 3 years ago and never looked back. Even if I'm giving my eyes a rest for a day and I need to go out to the supermarket I'll put in my contacts just for that xD can't stand myself in glasses.

That bloody black rim around the edge of them that seperates being able to see from the blurry smudges that is actually your vision. Contacts are like having 20/20 vision and they're so much more comfortable if a little annoying when your eyes get dry. Yes they're expensive as fuck but honestly, that's the only downfall when comparing them.

I usually only wear my contacts when I have ballet performances and stuff and I definitely prefer my glasses over them because 1. I think I look weird without them 2. It's just more comfortable and easier to wear them, like, you don't have to take the time to put them on, you don't have to be careful when rubbing your eye and makeup on or whatever. It's just a matter of preference, I guess
