I was involved in a serious car accident a bit over a year ago. (if you would like to know more read my other posts) which i had got my right leg/ankle sorta crushed along with breaking other bones. I have gotten 4 operations to correct my leg but now i walk with a very extreme limp.
I am really self-conscious about the limp. (Stupid I know) I was wondering if anyone here knows any tips to hide it. I have already goggled it but nothing seems to work. If i can hide it i think i would feel better about going into public to do what i need to do on a daily basis.
Thanks in Advance,
Ryan.

I got rid of my limp just by doing physical therapy. I don't remember the techniques used, but you could look into it.

I've done physical therapy for my injuries already, When i asked about the limp they said to just try and walk normally and if that doesn't work i might be stuck with it according to them. I wasn't convinced that i would be stuck with it so this is sort of the last thing i'm trying.
Thanks for the input anyway.

My advice is to find a better physical therapist... Just "trying" to walk normally isn't going to work if your body is out of whack.

Yeah, "trying" to walk "normally" is pretty bad advice. My physical therapist literally positioned my feet and legs the way he said I should be walking, from what I remember. I remember him specifically telling me to stop, because I was walking wrong, and to focus on putting my heel down first when I take a step.

^This.
I'm in PT for my knee right now, and my therapist has observed me, and instructed me on what I'm doing wrong, as well as what I need to do.

I think i didn't explain that well..
He did help with the limp, he helped me from being on a walking stick sorta thing to walking without help, but he said that it's up to myself to try walk normally. He gave me a few tips and sent me on my way. I do think you guys are right though, when i get myself some money i better get booked in with a new physical therapist.
Thank you again guys.

I definitely think you should try another physical therapist. Walking with a limp was something I did subconsciously; I didn't even notice it until my physical therapist forcibly showed me by making me walk normally. At best, it's difficult to repair on your own, and you really should have a professional assist you.

Like i said, When i get cash it would be the first thing i do. Seems like a good idea to me.
So glad this community is around even for simple problems like this. Thanks!

Ok 1) It is not stupid to feel self concious.
2 maybe you get someone to video you walking - say different shoes /boots
you have to see how you walk -
what causes the limp - weak muscles on one side - shorter a bit one side
just a few things to ask a doc about maybe a shoe insert or physio muscle building and stretching - maybe as well some stretches before you walk but check that with a doc
hope something works.

When I was involved in a motorcycle crash I mashed my leg up quite bad, but being the stupid prick I am I didn't go to hospital and ended up walking with a limp for months (when I finally did see a doc turns out I had crushed the muscle in my leg and really hurt it).
Best think you can do is look into physical therapy, if your legs all out of whack best think you can do is PT, not just try and walk "normally"

It may just go away on it's own but I'd get physical therapy.

The only real way to stop a limp is
1. going to a physical therapist,
2. doing your physical therapy exercises
when you're told, how you're told and keep doing them.
Walking on your own isn't going to help, plus you maybe hurting yourself by not getting the help you need. I suggest going to one.
