My mom found out about my cuts. She saw. She now thinks of me as a disappointment. I hate it all. I havent cut for about a month now but the scars are still noticeable. I am trying to not cut but lately it is becoming very difficult. Harsher words are being said. Harsher people are saying them. I dont know how to get the thoughts of cutting again out of my head. I miss it. The feeling. How do I make sure I domt cut again? How do O avoid the temptation?:confused:

One thing I suggest is keeping up with the Self harm Calendar here on VT. It can keep you motivated to not give in.
One of my closest friends used to draw butterflies on her wrists when she felt like self harming, and when they washed off in the shower, imagined them flying away and taking the pain and depression away from you. or use a rubber band and snap it on your skin, which still hurts, but it's better than drawing blood and getting harmful stuff in your body.
Stay strong. :) you can get through this.

Your mother thinks of you as a disappointment? Have you asked her why?

These are good ideas. I agree.

there's many different methods which you could try;
- using a red pen to draw on your body where you want to cut
- hitting and punching pillows
- taking a cold shower or bath
- talking to someone. If you're uncomfortable talking to someone you know then you could try talking to someone on a hotline
- write your feelings down on paper, crumple it up and throw it away, like your taking all your negative thoughts and throwing them away so they can't bother you anymore
- try to distract yourself, do something you like such as drawing, listening to music, hanging out with friends, exercising etc
- squeeze an ice cube, this can cause pain but will not cause any lasting damage or put you at risk of infections
- throw away whatever it is that you use to cut yourself
- pinging an elastic band of your wrist, it will hurt but once again it will not leave any lasting damage
hope this helps :)

I never had to ask her why she thinks of me as a disappointment. She told me. She said she never raised me like this and that I am obviously not her daughter if I can do this to myself. What she doesnt realize is that I know she used to do the same thing at my age. And thanks for the tips. I will try them whenever i feel the urge to cut
