in gym class in 10th grade we do the swimming unit, girls wear one piece swimsuits and boys wear swim trunks. We practice different strokes and play some games.

Boys and girls do it together and I am honestly surprised that schools do this in this day and age. Not just because it might be seen as wrong but it also gives students a chance to look at each other in swim suits, especially girls

I noticed girls don't seem to be nervous or have any problem wearing a bathing suit in front of boys. I wonder why. Sure it is a once piece suit but it is still revealing. It shows off their legs and I thought girls don't like people seeing them.

You'd be surprised how much girls are willing to show. :)

I'm actually not sure with that one. I'm a girl and I'm horribly insecure when I wear something besides the normal shirts and jeans.

Girls are confusing to understand sometimes. I guess because all the girls are in bathing suits, they don't feel ashamed about it. Some girls do have nice bodies and they don't feel scared about it.

Maybe on the other hand, probably because they will fail the class if they don't follow the rules. lol. That's my guess.

I guess the thing you gotta remember is that every girl is different and unique in their own special way. Like Comet for example. She doesn't like to reveal too much. In my experience the shy girls are almost always the best.

I honestly hate being seen in a bathing suit, but I have body issues as it is. So.

Some girls quite enjoy wearing bathing suits in front of boys if they are confident. Remember many might be checking out the guys too! To me it doesn't bother me but I know girls in my school who have skipped swimming class because they were nervous.

^^^ You'd be surprised how much GUYS are willing to show. You freaks show your nips so.

Actually, I would put that thing down, flip it and reverse it. I highly doubt girls are as nonchalant about flaunting their epidermis. Myself included -- I know many women, MANY, that are self-conscious about showing their body. Doesn't mean they don't show it. But they also aren't like "Herrrrreeeeee's Johhhhhny *jumps out in itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini*"

You pose a good question, one that I cannot answer, but can add to. Why are girls not afraid of wearing bikinis, but freak out if you see them in a less revealing bra and panty set?

Mysteries of the universe, tbh. As a female, I still don't get it.

My only guess is that in one, they have an active awareness that you are seeing them this way, and they've accepted it, and in the other, they aren't prepared for it, and may or may not be ok with it.

Basically, it's probably more about context than what they are *actually* wearing.

I think it has to do mainly with the fact that I know I'm supposed to be seen in swimwear. But underwear isn't really supposed to be seen. So when someone sees me in my undies, i know that's not supposed to be happening. I guess, I dunno, lol.

Not really sports related.

I'm quite confident to show myself in swimwear but many girls are too embarrassed or self conscious to be as open as I am. We are all different and we need to respect not everyone is confident in their own skin :(

I swim at public pools and the beach so why would a swimming class be any different? But our school has guys and girls swimming as separate classes even though our general gym classes have both together.

A lot of people aren't like that but those who dont mind are probably just used to it and dont care. About half my pe class at school 'forget' their swimming costumes so they won't have to take part.
