I don't use shaving cream. Instead, I soak my face with a lot of water and shave with just a razor.

Not really. Shaving cream is called shaving cream for a reason, and also why it doesn't cost that much. It serves a good purpose.

But if you just want to know for informational reasons, you can use any kind of non toxic safe for your face foam or sudsy substance. Shampoo, lotion, body wash, conditioner, moose etc.

You can use liquid based stuff like baby oil and stuff but I don't know. I never tried it.

There isn't really anything else that works as well as proper shaving cream/gel though other things can be used if you have to. You need something slippery and the old soaps can have that property because they are essential a blend or a fat or oil with an alkalai. Not all modern "liquid soaps" such as shower gel have that property. Hair conditioner is probably the best alternative you are likely to find in the bathroom.

shaving cream works best of all, but some of the other recommendations made here, like soap, shampoo, etc are also good substitutes but they dont have the moisturizing properties of shaving cream.

Soad and water would work. I don't see why you can't use shaving cream

Sometimes I use soap. I'm not sure if it's completely safe, but it doesn't hurt me. Just choose which soap you think won't cause you any irritations and whatnot.

I use an electric razor, but when I used to use a 'proper' razor I used to use shaving gel.

You can buy shaving gel/cream at any age as far as I'm aware, so your parents need not know.

I have a really thick rough beard now but when I just started getting facial hair I used shave gel and a razor. I always thought it didn't do much for me. Now I just shave in the shower with water only, n clean up n trim my sideburns in the mirror after. If it gets really long I use an electric razor to get it down then trim up in shower. I also like the look of just the electric razor so sometimes I go with that. Its tough until your beard covers everywhere its going to.

I recomend soap and water; although... my friend has used hair conditioner, with no problems

I've always shaved in the shower, using soap and hot water from the shower. I shave midway through my shower, so the hair has time to get soft. Before that I used an electric, but I couldn't get all the hair. Back when I basically had no hair I could dry shave with a razor comfortably.
