well not fully block like in the sense of Facebook, but you can add people to your ignore list. It'll automatically hide posts made by them, but you can "see" them at your digression.
I'm just not sure if by blocking them you'll still get PM and Quote notifications from them, as it doesn't hide my stuff from them (unless they've blocked me as well).

I can think of many other sites that need a block feature. I don't think this is one. As for your question, I don't think you would get a notification.

Lots of members have clashing personalities and don't want to see each other's posts, it doesn't really matter if they are trolls or anything like that.

People's persoanlitys clash, and sometimes people wan't to forget someone exists and ignore them compleatly. Seems petty to me, but some people want to do that.

There's only one person I ever remember wanting to block (who's on another forum) and it wouldn't let me because since he owns very boring diary it considers him a mod. I could probably get admin to override that, but seems too whiny.

Never thought about this ignore feature...if I want to ignore someone I just don't read what he or she posts...so never tried what this feature does.
