So my BF decided to stop smoking! This is soooo awesome!
He had his last cig at 12:30 PM yesterday, and it's now 8:44 AM, so he's been over 20 hours without a cig!! That's a long time for him!
So, what can I do to help him?
That's the reason that I started this thread. I'm looking for advice on what I can do to help him.
I'm not really a smoker. I would smoke around him, but that's because he'd give me his cigs! And now that he has no more cigs, I won't be smoking either!
Any advice would be great!! Thanks!! :)

It's great that your BF has managed to quit without any professional help at all, but I advise that he seek some, because the symptoms of withdrawal can quickly change one's mind about whether they want to give up any drug really quickly.

This. I have tried and failed to quit smoking, many times. The withdrawls drive you insane, make you snappy, put you in a bad mood and you feel shakey and angry and empty. He should get nicotine gum or patches or a fake cigarette.

Get him things to suck on ( lolipops, candy canes, etc. ) That's helped many of my family members quit smoking. Nicotine gum/ patches will help too
: added : Congrats to your bf btw :)

So happy to hear this news. Tell him to try chewing gum and don't smoke around him even though you said you only smoked when he smoked. Just be there for him while he is trying to quit.

That's great! It's a good thing too. Smoking can cause alot of health issues. If he gets tempted, get him the gum that reduces the urge to smoke, or try e-cigs, as they are known to taste better.

Like other people said, get him chewing gum. Also don't smoke around him, I got around the last thing because my friend was smoking piece of shit cigs which felt like lung cancer on first draw. And when you are with him, try to keep him in a good mood, of course that should be mutual but my previous attempts at stopping have failed because I switched from a good mood to a bad mood and reached for my pack and lighter. Tomorrow is one week since the last time I drew smoke and it's looking good. Keep in mind that he's probably going to start eating more due to metabolical changes after smoking. That is happening to me. Now I eat up to three times more than I used to, luckilly I'm going back to rowing so I'll be putting those calories to good use.

awesome he quit. I would not smoke around him if I were you. gum is a great way to give his mouth something to do. he may need some professional help. it is nothing to be ashamed of. my dad quit smoking through a program when I was younger (I don't remember the program) but he smoked for 30+ years. it is great your bf gave it up at such a young age

Good luck with it. My friend stopped smoking, it was very difficult to him. Just stay strong and support him in every way you can. And be patient.

Good for him!
I heard chewing gum when you feel the urge to smoke helps.
