What medications have you all had adverse reactions to?

Why were you taking it?

How long did you have to take it?

I'll answer my own questions first. Ive had an adverse reaction to Ritalin. I was taking it for ADHD management. It made me an emotionless zombie. You could have told me puppies were dying and I would have been emotionally indifferent. I took it for a month before my parents told the doc that enough was enough.

Anti Depresants -
Made me sleepy, irritable, they clouded thought and made me throw up from time to time, also, be warned, this may be TMI, but I was unable to sustain an erection or ejactualte properly when taking them, told you it was TMI, should have listened to me :P

Anti Phsychotics- Nothing when taken on there own, but when mixed with the anti-D's, as they had to be, they lowered IQ but about 50 points, they put you out compleatly, also they amplified the TMI you know what effe ts from my other meds.

I stopped taking both recently because the advantages wasnt worth the nasty side effects.

Also, I should mention the upsides as well, I got my emotion back, my compassion and abilty to care, now that I've stopped taking them they are slowly fading away, but it's not worth the side effects.

What medications have you all had adverse reactions to? Sulfa drugs

Why were you taking it? UTI

How long did you have to take it? About a week or so until the meds ran out.

Made me break out in hives so bad I woke up screaming and they had to take me to the ER :P I couldn't even sit. Everything itched. Everything was swollen. Everything hurt. :P

What medications have you all had adverse reactions to? Traz0done

Why were you taking it? Sleep

How long did you have to take it? I've been taking it in some capacity for close to a year, I suppose.

Has actually made my sleep hygiene WORSE. Feels like a brick of drowsiness at night, and fingers trying to drag me back down to hell in the morning. Makes my hypersomnia worse, my daytime drowsiness worse, and occasionally even, my insomnia worse. Makes my migraines and food aversions/nausea worse as well, and may be causing my olfactory seizures to worsen. (Though that could just be the nausea talking. I can never tell.)

And no one will let me go off it, so :P

Get used to it, especialy if you plan to visit the puberyt part of the forum, people can be so open because the human/social aspect is removed. I'll likely never meet you, you'll never be able tell all my dirty secrets to my friends. Thats why most people are happy to talk baout anything here.
Anyhoo, we're hyjacking this thread, if you have any more questions feel free to send me a PM if ya want :)
(To send a PM, click my username, located to the left, and it will bring a drop down menu, click "send private message", it's just we should clog the threads with unrelated stuff, at least untill the thread has come to a decent conclusion)

Most anti-depressants for me gave me bad reactions or didn't work at all. A lot of anti-psychotics worked but one had an adverse reaction that messed with my hormone levels and bloodwork or made me too drowsy.

I'm now on an anti-seizure medication that works surprisingly the same way as an anti-psychotic in some cases. That works just fine.

Don't think I have to say why I was on any of them, they're pretty self-explanatory.

Melatonin doesn't work for me. :P Nothing does. Trazodone isn't even reliable. Neither is booze, or DXM, or anything. Half the time they knock me out, half the time, I'm just sitting there with lead eyelids feeling restless.

I had almost the exact same side effects from antidepressants. They went away for the most part after a few months, but sometimes I still have problems with side effects. However, it's a choice between some annoying, but relatively minor side effects or debilitating OCD, so I'll keep taking them for the foreseeable future.

I have like...delayed OCD. I could do something and not care, but 5 minutes later its OCD time...
