Today was possibly the best day at school I've ever had.

5th period is when I see my two closest friends at school, and all day I'd had the feeling that something was getting ready to happen. The conversation started out talking about crushes, who had a crush on who and the like. And somewhere along the line, I had mentioned my crush. Immediately, the two began badgering me about who she was, and after a few attempts to get me to crack, I finally gave them a hint:
My crush is not a girl.
Afterwards I felt a huge wad of tension being lifted off of me. And to my surprise, they didn't even seem to get hung up on the fact that I was gay. When I told them about how nervous I was, they said:
This is a different school, there are plenty of gay people here...

It feels so good to finally be out to my friends. I'd thought that in a conservative state like mine, I'd just have to put up with 3 years of unrelenting verbal abuse. But I don't! And it feels great! I hope this will inspire those in VT's Closet to come out and feel the sunshine. :D
