It's interesting how some love a teacher while the rest hate them, and vice-versa. I've dealt with middle-school, high-school, prep course and university teachers, each with their own personality. Some classes I was excited to watch just because of the teachers, others, I loved the subject but the teacher could die in a pit of fire :P
So, what traits in teachers do you most like and most dislike? Why?
Personally, I hate...
Slow teachers. Even if I need their slowness, it always ends up in not going through the course as expected.
Teachers that try too hard to get along. Sexual jokes, pop references and chewing the material for us is a big snore. (Most disagree with me on this )
Teachers that don't like the US :P
Seriousness. It's 100% correct if you're a college teacher, but if you wanted a career teaching teens you should probably be a bit more flexible.
Teachers with so much bias. Just because you love literature, doesn't mean you can ignore grammar and writing classes.
Teachers that go way too off-topic. Honestly, one wen from talking about amino acids to genetics to melanin to how her husband had his scrotum operated on. TMI, way too much. (True story)
Teachers that don't admit errors. Where's the fun of math class w/o them?
Teachers that know nothing about what they're teaching, at all.
[/RANT]
Is it so hard to know what you're talking about, with a slight sense of humor?

I actually always really hated the teachers who tried to be cool and relaxed and ended up teaching us nothing. I actually tried really hard to focus on school and some classes taught me nothing because the teacher wasn't doing their job.
I do like teachers who teach in an engaging way, however. I had a history teacher who would hilariously act out historical scenarios by himself in front of the class. He was in depth and taught us a lot but he still made it fun. He wasn't trying to be cool either, he was just being himself.
Also talking about that teacher, I loved that he showed us a lot of relevant and historically correct films (and if there was an anachronism, he'd tell us why it was wrong). It made the class more engaging as well. What I don't like are teachers who show films constantly and they feel like they have nothing to do with the class or they're just being shown for the sake of being shown. Thankfully, most of my classes had lots of films because that's basically what I was studying but they were all relevant.

I hate when teachers tell you to put a problem on the board and it's the only question you got wrong.

I like teachers that are caring, genuinely respectful, approachable and understanding. All I dislike is rudeness and bitchiness ( which was like 90% of my teachers when I was in public school ).

Every damn time.
I have a teacher called Mr Moffat, awsoe. Rpteacher, knowlegeable, funny, serious at the right times, messes around at the right times. (That's what I love about college, the teachers don't have an oath of care soi they will often fuck about along with you, tell dirty jokes, take the mic out of students, its nice to be level with them), everyone likes him, without fail, everyone. He's an all round awesome teacher.

Honestly, I love when my male teachers pull me aside to talk to me in private, because it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside to be so close to an attractive man. Of course on the flip side I hate it because my teachers are all straight. (Or at least they pretend to be ;) )

My old math teacher from last year said "Hi, (my name). Hi, everyone else." She always looked at me in the classroom, and it's making me feel very uncomfortable.

I hate it when the teachers don't teach. HUH, ironic isn't it???? There's this teacher last year that I had that literally did not teach. I mean maybe you can learn something, but when the valedictorian gets a 67(you need 65 to pass) on her final exam, something's not right.

Most teachers would just not be enthusiastic at all. Some would just be bored while teaching. I feel like some people are just teachers for the paid summer off. My history teacher actually knows about the subject and loves teaching. He tries to make it fun and asks your opinion on the worksheets in class. We also get notified when we have a test and he lets people take it when they feel they're ready.

I go to a really small high school, so all the teachers know everyone by name and personality. We got a new principal and he knew me by name the first day of school. With so few students comes more of a personalized approach to teaching. My spanish teacher calls how she teaches my class the "ADD" method. I doubt she spent a whole day staying on topic all year. With another of her classes, she is the most bland boring class possible. Since i dont have a computer at my dads house, my teachers print out all the onlie homework for me, just so i can still get it done. Some of them even let kids take a nap in the back of the classroom as long as they get straight A's. Its pretty much a public private school. All my teachers are great.

I don't dislike teachers, I dislike the curriculum they are assigned to teach.

I like teachers:
Who are not too young, not too old.
Aren't two faced
Aren't strict
Answers your question if you have one
Jokes around and is nice.
I dislike teachers:
Who give you a packet of work to do each class
Show up to class late
Expect you to show up on class right on the dot
Won't answer your question if you raise your hand
Are strict
Are too young or too old.

I like teachers who
- know how to keep student's attention
- have an authority feelings without having to punish students
- have a good sense of humour and have conversations with students
- give every student personal advice instead of strictly following a class course
I dislike teachers who
- Can't keep attention
- Have no authority feeling and have to enforce it
- have a poor sense of humour
- do not allow students to speak their mind
- TEAFCHERS WHO DON'T FUCKIN ALLOW QUSETIONS WHAT IS THAT
- don't take students seriously
- follow a strict course with no personal attention

My chemistry teacher is the worst. He thinks he's so amazing and teaching and that he's a fucking comedian. It's his first year as a teacher but he's can't explain for shit, literally he'll be at the board like "this is the answer" and we'll be like "uh, no that's wrong" every single time. I'd be alright if I actually got it but chemistry is a damn hard subject and I actually need a decent tutor for AS level to pass the year. It honestly seems like he's constantly high, he made a joke at the beginning of the year that he was "an international drug dealer", that's the kind of dickhead he is, no mate you dealt legal precriptions.
Yeah sorry, this turned into a rant about my chem teacher.
What I like?
- Properly explain and go through things with you
- Approachable, so you're not irritated if you're stuck on something
- Teach in a lighthearted way, not serious and not careless
- Can actually make a decent joke and add some of their own experiences into their teaching, more inolvement rather than standing at the front talking at us

Since starting college, I've found myself hating far fewer teachers, but in fairness I do research my teachers before choosing them. It does seem the main differences are more enthusiasm for the given subject and greater push to seek them out one-on-one to work on content you don't understand. Mine have always seemed like they truly care about how you fair.
Like:
-Lively, captivating, and enthusiastic about their subject. Can't tell you what having a teacher like this does for someone with ADHD like me.
-No-nonsense approach to assignments. I like straightforward homework and exams, and hate open-ended assignments unless the subject requires it, like literature, philosophy, etc.
-I have to admit, I love entertaining teachers who go off topic, but of course not at a significant expense of your amount of time to learn the material.
-These should be givens, but patience, flexibility, humbleness, yada yada.
Dislike:
-Assignments: too numerous, group anything, reading the entire fucking textbook, busy work versus work that expands knowledge gained in class and prepares you for the exams.
-Vague anything. Deadlines, assignments, test material. I'm currently dealing with a teacher that has one particular series of assignments that appear nowhere on the schedule and can only be obtained in-class. I missed a couple days when I was sick and literally had no clue the assignment even existed. Existed nowhere online.

I hate teachers that do nothing but lecture off of walls of text from books and from the board. I am a very visual learner and looking at a bunch of text does not help.

I hate teachers who don't admit their mistakes. Yes, Baba Radmila I'm talking about you. Also I hate teachers who grade you unjustly. I had A,B,C and a D from English (how the fuck I got the C and D I'm not sure, it was in my grades section) and the final grade was A while my friend who had A,A,B and B had to take a test for a final A. Also I don't like teachers who look at some students with lust in their eyes. One 65 year old teacher dropped a pen and asked me to pick it up even though I was 8 meters from him. Also I caught a geography teacher staring at my friend's butt.

I hated teachers that don't teach. The ones that gives you a packet and expect you to learn yourself.
The teachers that used perverted humor to fit in. I have a really perverted mind and that even made me uncomfortable.
The ones who got mad if you tried to talk to a person, even before they even started teaching.
The ones that don't help you.

I have this teacher who doesn't do anything at all, literally does nothing. When her class starts, she'll come inside sit on her desk, open up her laptop or read some book. Then when the bell rings she leaves. When isn't lazy, she'll hand os some paperwork. But that's it.
