Come out as being bi-sexual at first. I really don't get it.

I mean it is hard enough for some to act straight but I guess its a way to hide their homosexuality?

But Gay and being bi-sexual are two different things so I just wanted to know why.

I didn't and all the gay people I knew didn't "come out" as bi first.

Although there is a stage a lot of people go through, where they justify liking guys by saying "Well I'm bi" even though deep down they know they are gay. It means they can still like guys however they are able to "like" girls as well so they don't completely alienate their straight friends.

Sometimes people don't really know what they are yet, so they say that they're bi. That how I was, until I discovered that I was actually gay.

You have to discover your real sexual orientation, and the 'social norm' is being straight, so at first, most people identify as straight. When they question that, they might say that they're bi, and then eventually they'll truely find out what they like :D

They might do this because they are still too afraid to admit they prefer males than females. I could imagine why it would be hard for some people, although im personally not gay.

I have a lot of gay friends and they do that because being bi isn't as bad as being gay.

its not really about gay being "worse" than bi ... people just feel like they can still fit in more if they are "bi" and still like the opposite sex.
or the other reason as mentioned, because they are still experimenting and figuring out who they are and who they are attracted to.

a lot of my friends did come out as bi originally for either of these reasons.

In middle school, after I couldn't deny that I liked guys, I considered coming out as bisexual to I guess preserve some of my "masculinity". I definitely knew that I didn't like girls, but I chose bisexual because it isn't as bad as outright gay.

I soon realized that I would be lying to myself, and accepted the fact that Megan Fox wouldn't ever turn me on as much as my horny friends.
