so, usually when I have a mental overload or breakdown I would try to talk to friends so that I won’t go back to self-harm (one year clean by the way :D); but something that vie noticed is that oftentimes when that doesn't work, or even if it does but I end up not actually wanting to talk about it, I’ll just go to bed at that moment (even if it's 1:00 in the afternoon) and sleep to ignore the problem until the next day.
I was just wondering if anyone else does this

That's very common. It gives me a good mood refresh, not just when I'm depressed but when I'm angry, bored, etc etc.

Ok, first off, congrats on being clean for a year!

Secondly, those are both fairly good coping mechanisms, actually. Ones I should probably employ, heh.

Only trouble I see is that #2 could turn into running away from your problems as opposed to dealing with them (and sometimes you have to get away for a little bit, just don't let it interfere with other things you need to do.)

Nice job on your one year. :) I find what you do to be normal. I often do the same, especially because it can often feel like I have nobody to talk to. Sometimes 'sleeping it off' can really take the edge off.
