Is there a way I can make the desire of self-harming go away? Or is there a way I can hurt myself without it harming my body?

Challenge yourself. There is nothing better than achieving.24 hours cut free is a good start. Then 3 days. Then a week. Accomplishments are the vest way. Then you'll want to keep the streak rather than self harm. Good luck

Brandon is right. Once you get to a certain point, as little or big as you want, you want to keep up the clean streak. 190 days for me? I don't want to break that.

Also, try ice cubes. It mimics the pain but doesn't harm you. It's a safer alternative until you can try to avoid it altogether.

Ice cubes are a really smart, really safe alternative, I used them for the longest time when I was learning to quit. But if you want to quit then you have to come to the realization that you're going to need to get rid of the cubes as well, because even though it's not seriously harming your body it's still a mental barrier. So I'd recommend that you use ice cubes to slowly get yourself away from actual cutting, but then also slowly start to wean yourself off of the cubes as well. If you cut everyday, then try only cutting every other day, every three days, every week. Slowly but surely, you'll see improvement. Then, I'd say when you get to once a week, see how many days you can go without, count the days, mark your calendar, challenge yourself. And if you breakdown, have a relapse, realize that you're human. Don't beat yourself up, don't say that it's hopeless, don't give up. Just start from where you left off, or if you feel that it was too much, then go back a step. There's nothing wrong with moving backward a step if eventually you move forward two. Best of luck to you.

P.S. If you ever need someone to talk to about these things then I'm here for you. I'll listen, I'll talk, and I'll do my best to help you. It's never hopeless, never forget.

it is possible to replace the habit with a good one
like when you feel like doing it, pick up a few things and put them away. That's what I do.

Listening to some hard hitting music to drown out your emotions, studying helps me a lot, and just simply talking to someone about your or their day. Distract yourself.
