View Full Version : The Weight of the World

A song I wrote when I was fourteen.

The weight of the world is on my shoulders
The fate of the world is in my hands
I am very young, but I feel much older
As ancient as the shifting sands
That gather in the deserts of far-off lands

My destiny will never let me be
The epiphanies that seemed a blessing
Are a curse in disguise, they are blinding my eyes
And I can't stop my obsessing
And no one's listening, but I'm still confessing

I look all over, but I cannot see
Past the edges of my delusions
I feel like a fool, so I must be wise
Or at least that's my conclusion
From the midst of never-ending confusion

I'm chasing all the answers, but it scares them away
So I run after them all the harder
I can't find the words, I don't know what to say
I'm getting stupider instead of smarter
So I just keep on running farther

The weight of the world is on my shoulders
The fate of the world is in my hands
I was very young, but now I'm older
As ancient as the shifting sands
And I'm lost in the deserts of far-off lands

Hope you like it.
