There is a girl on my bus, she is very pretty and very smart. She is two years older than me (15/17, sophomore/senior). I don't think she's the popular type (I think she's seen as a "nerd" in her grade). Anyway, usually she gets off the bus in about 5 minuets, but this year the route changed and she gets off after me, so we're on the bus for a good 30 minuets. I've talked to her before but not much, and lately we have been talking when everyone is off the bus. I wanted to ask her on a date (not ask her "out" if that makes sense), but I don't know if I should. If she says no then we might not stay friends, but if she says yes... Well that's just good. If I do decide to ask her out, how should I go about it? Can I just say "Will you go to ____ with me?" Or what? Honestly I've never asked a girl out in person, only over text. I could get her number, but i wanted to do it in person. So, any thoughts?

if by ask out you mean just a date. Think of an activity that seems fun ( that the both of you would like to do) and just say "hey do you wanna go _____ sometime?" . I think you should definitely go for it, you have nothing to lose

Is say, a restaurant good for just a date? Not fancy, just local.

when you say restaurant, i think fancy. Maybe like a nicer sandwich shop or something. Keep it really casual. If you have a nice downtown near you, maybe grab some lunch and walk around.

Well we live in a pretty small town. only place to really walk around is the park, and it's not that clean tbh. Would a bar/restaurant (Obviously we'd only use the restaurant XD) be appropriate? It's definitely not fancy... In fact I'll probably just ask her if she likes any of the restaurants around us.

Sarahs right, keep it casual, walk around, visit some shops, and don't forget, shes just a person. Anyway, good luck

Well. Didn't work out.
She said "I probably won't be able to"
There was a silent understanding between us though. She meant no.

At least you have closure. Now you can go for someone else.
