Men can be forced to pay child support but have no choice in abortions. Is this fair?
In what situations do you think men should be exempt from paying child support?
If said man is a victim of rape
If he genuinely cant afford it
The woman tricked him into the pregnancy
Any other times you know of?

A man should get a window to opt-out of all his paternal rights during the pregnancy, including child support but extending to visitation rights, etc.

First of all, gender shouldn't be a consideration in terms of child support, unless it has to do with hospital bills from pregnancy.

I think that you should only have to pay child support if you have custody of a child, and that if one parent takes complete custody away from the other the other shouldn't be expected to pay child support because it isn't his/her child legally anymore.

First, you're completely right, by my standards as an egalitarian i shouldn't have had a conception. But its a true conception because in 84 ish % of cases mothers get the child.
I think that each case is very individual and i do believe that courts favour women so rather than look at each case the preconception is that the man should pay child support so is disadvantaged before he has a chance. The case of the boy who was raped as a14 year old and forced to pay child support with a back log of 6 years he didn't know she existed springs to mind

You'll find that this bias stems from the fact that child-rearing/minding is split unevenly between men and woman in the homes.

Researchers looking at middle-class, dual-income households found that mothers took on the majority of child care-related tasks, and were still spending more of their free time on child care than men.

Well ok but lets twist this here.
First, we take the statistic that men work longer than women on average.
Now we put this to use by trying to make workers work harder and longer.
We take the above statistic, and favour men.
Lets make it so that men with no qualifications are better workers than a women with qualifications.
That is what you're saying. And people would and have been outraged by that in the past. What's the difference if we change the gender. (nobody mention society about this because its a scapegoat)

it is completely true that a woman could be a dead beat mom and still be favoured. Its been shown

You seemed to have missed my point: I'm saying that this occurs in general because woman spend more time with the children in general.

I haven't weighed in on whether I think it's right or wrong.

There's no way this could ever work, do you want men to have a legal say or a chat in the pub?
