Yup. Chick Fil A founder and one of the vocal bigots in the fight against same sex equality has passed away. While I don't celebrate the death of anyone, unless they have brought pain and death to countless innocents, like this man has, then I see this as the fall of a monster. Hopefully his legacy of hate ends and his family and supporters will realize what this monster has done to me personally and to many innocent LGBT youth everywhere.

Well, whilst the death of him is not considered a good thing by most (I'm glad he's gone), at least there's one less Bigot in the world

You come across as a bigot as well, why are your ways and ideas better than his were?
I find it quite tragic that he passed, he was a great man.

So please tell me, is publicly saying that LGBT people are nothing but degenerate filth and then donating money to organizations dedicated to preventing same sex equality a sign of a good man?

I almost want to say something homophobic or racist just to piss you off because I know how angry things like that make you and it's funny how you just go off on eeveryone who disagrees with you.
I actually do agree with most of your viewpoints, but seriously, learn to chill out and be polite and shit.

This forum isn't for debating, and this thread is not a debate. Don't treat it as such
And in the future, OP, keep your titles more appropriate and true to the article. I've changed it this time, but if this becomes a habit, you will receive a warning

One more note from us. The VT Daily Cronicle should remain Impartial. Let's keep that in mind for next time.

thanks for making this thread OP, it'll come in handy next time we have a debate on the root causes of homophobia :D
Chick-fil-A is a great business that I enjoy going to. the food is tasty, the service is good, and the employees are usually normal-looking high school kids. I could go order some pink slime patties from the shifty-looking stoner working the counter at BK, but I figure if I'm going to spend 10+ Reichsmarks on takeout food, why not go for a hot hate sandwich with a side of Waffle-SS fries? I actually just ate there the other day with my WASP parents, shit was cash. well seeya.

This right here. This is my favorite post of the day.
As for an actual response: I somewhat agree that it was a good thing that he passed. I'm not gonna say he was a good person because well, he wasn't. He was a homophobic asshole that needed to give his religion a break.

I really hate how the word bigot is tossed around. Try opinionated cause that's what he had the right to. I'm not sure how he supposedly cause hate and death on a personal level. I doubt anything he did really affected you. Come on stop playing victim.
Unfortunate he died and I feel sorry for his family. I enjoy eating there.

You're completely right. I didn't know him first hand so who am I to judge? Yes, he sure did make some offensive remarks but like you said, it was under his rights. We don't have to agree with him, but we can at least have some respect for the deceased. It's not like he went around and picketed funerals of dead soldiers.

I'm gay, but I'm not going to celebrate this man's death. He may have had bad politics, and faulty morals, but that doesn't mean that I'm going to compromise my morals to praise his death. May he rest in peace.

He was a great man. One of the last great and true Christian mega business owners. No man deserves to die unless he is Hitler. Cathy was no Hitler.

+1
I went to a Chik Fil A one time and it was before I found out how homophobic the company and most of it's owners (and employees, in my experience) are. While I usually don't let things like that stop me from giving a company my business, in this instance it did.
Anyways rot in pieces S. Truett Cathy, I'm sure oh so many people who despise equal rights will mourn your oh so sad death.

You need to cut the slack on calling people bigots. You're making the guy equal to Hitler while in fact he wasn't. If he donated the momey he earned to those groups but not the company's money then I see nothing wrong with it. I mean his views are outdated but he should be free to do what he likes with the money.

Really good food, annoying greeting, too bad there ruled on the corporate ladder by homophobes and can't use the business sense of being open 7 days a week. If their food wasn't good they would be failing right now!

Precisely my sentiments.
Besides, the celebration of death of someone with an opposing viewpoint or whatever literally makes you as bad as the person whose grave you're figuratively dancing on.
It doesn't matter that being hateful is a choice and being gay isn't; you can also be a hateful gay. (And for the sake of brevity and tact I'll leave it there...)
I personally didn't agree with his stance at all (how could I?) however I also have come to accept the harsh reality that everything we do has a negative impact on the world we live in. Everything. I like Chick-Fil-A for its food options. I'll eat there sometimes. I'm not oblivious to the shady things that its higher-ups have done- that's capitalism. Actually, that's life. It doesn't matter who controls the meal that goes on your plate, unless you saw the entire process from start to finish, you are not in control of what happened to create it.
American activists are silly, thinking that things are so black and white, and fixable. If you want to guilt trip yourself for doing something that has negative karma, go ahead. I don't buy into that bullshit. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
But I do respect the deceased, I don't celebrate death. I wish the best for his family, and just hope the next person in line makes better decisions.
