Hi, um im new and i got a message after posting for awhile and it said i was bumping. What exactly is it?

It means you're posting in a thread that's been inactive for 2 or more months, in which case you should always check the dates of the last post and then calculate how long it's been. The only person who can bump a thread is the original poster.

I also recommend you read the PMs sent to you by staff more carefully, as I'm very certain the message you received explained what bumping is.
Oh, and also, there are very few sections on the sure exempt from bumping, diaries and the arcade mainly.

I can see the point, but I don't agree with it. A lot of times, people will leave the forums and a long time later, someone will reply. The flip side, since they don't allow bumping, is that there's a lot of repetitive threads in some of the forums. In my personal opinion, if someone left a year ago and is still getting emails about replies to that thread, that's on them because they didn't uncheck the "send me an e-mail when someone replies" option.
My advice is to always check the dates of the last reply. If you see the "similar threads" thing at the bottom of threads, don't click it, as a lot of those threads are old.
